Deadline passed!
Play the entries

What to Make

- Make a game with any version of Stencyl.
- It may be a Flash game, a mobile (iOS / Android) game or a universal game (Flash + mobile).
- The game has to be new (not something you've already published), and it has to be complete.

No theme. No other restrictions. You may submit multiple entries or work with as many people as you'd like. Games started before the announcement may be submitted if finished in time.

How to Submit

Post a topic inside this special contest forum.

Include the following:

- A link to the game, hosted on the web if it's a Flash game, or for mobile games, on the App Store or Google Play.
- A brief description of the game.
- At least 1 screenshot or video of the game.

Private Submissions

If you e-mail us a private submission, always provide a link to your game's forum topic.

Mobile Games
Although we much prefer an App Store / Google Play entry, if you are unable to get a mobile game approved in time (it takes 1 week on average) or are intending to sell the game, you may e-mail an IPA / APK / project / promo-code to hello [at] stencyl.com.

Web Games
For a Web game, you may e-mail a link to hello [at] stencyl.com if you're seeking a sponsorship and have to keep the game private during bidding.

Prizes

The top three entries will win a Stencyl Studio subscription for 1 year.

If you already have a subscription, you'll receive an extension/upgrade.

Deadline

November 15th @ 11:59 PM (Pacific Time / -8 GMT)

Judging

Non-participating members of the Stencyl Team will collectively judge entries. We judge holistically.

Winners from the previous Game Jam

Here are the winning entries from the previous Game Jam to give you an idea of what a "winning" entry looks like.

What if it's been recently published? Like 1-2 days ago?

Nope, it needs to be finished and posted between the announcement and the deadline.

The intent is to create something during the jam timeframe. If it's already done, that goes against the spirit of the jam and its purpose - that's why we're going to be firm on this, even if it was published that recently.

Sorry to say that but your jams are no fun without a theme.

The issue I have isn't the lack of theme, it's the feeling that the winner will likely be something that's been in production for a while, and likely by people who least need the prize :(

If you look at past competitions, you'll find that's not actually the case. Most winning entries are started well after the competition's announcement. For the three-month Newgrounds Stencyl Jam, I didn't begin working on my game until two weeks before the deadline, and I won second place nonetheless. I believe the first place winner also started his very late as well.

This is great, how often are these done?  I'm still learning the ropes and I don't think I'll be able to get anything completed in time for the deadline, but I'm looking forward to the next one.

They're done once or twice around this time of the year.

It's not too often
