Well, I have been working on a game for the past few months, it is nearing completion and should be finished by the deadline. While getting a free subscription would be nice, I don't know whether I should enter my game in this or not, since it has been a while in the making, which seems to be of concern to a few people (which is understandable).

If you're wanting to get your game sponsored the E-Mail to stencyl will keep it confidential. When the last stencyljam was going on I was getting Mr. Tart sponsored. I wanted to be in the contest but I also didn't want to loose my major bid $XXXX. So that will keep it confidential and when you're ready to release you can!

I think he doesn't mean because he wouldn't be able to get a sponsorship, but because it would be an unfair advantage.

I may have had an idea for a game I could enter.

Yeah this is what I meant. Though it is possible I will have to do a private entry like Max said, unless the sponsorship process goes really smoothly and doesn't take a month.

As mentioned earlier, someone can make a game in a week and it could win compared to the 4 months Mr. Tart took me and I didn't even get a honorable mention. Not to make you have second thoughts about not posting it. Just try something these things are fun.

And not getting an honorable mention doesn't mean your game stinks either. Remember: make something you want to and have fun! It's work to make a game, but have fun too!
Do NOT PM me your questions, because I likely will not respond. If I have replied to your question on the forum, keep using that topic. Thanks!

what happens if you work with a team and you win? who gets the subcription? do all get it? or just the person who's account it was made on?

needs a theme!

I know the last one didn't have a theme.. but I always thought it needed one... Not naming names but I'm pretty sure I know some people entered things that they had worked on prior to the jam.

Pete, not sure about last time but it's allowed to enter games people work on before the jam, as long as they weren't released before the jam.

Do games have to be exclusively for the jam or can they be for other things like LD? Either way this should be fun.

I have a game i wanted to do since a long time, its a cool game believe me  8).. since i have been trying to do it for a long time, i already have a head-start so i don't know if its a fair start, just like what kantieno was saying...

But then i would rather do something i want to, and make a cool game than do something for the sake of doing different, while all my attention is on the game i started and left.

If that scenario occurs, we'll resolve this at the time that the prize is awarded. Anyone working in a team will declare all the facts upfront (who worked on what, etc.).

In practice, I haven't seen a successful entry (to our jams) done by more than 2 people because the act of working in more than a pair can be difficult.
