Other than Auto Keying (which is nice!) I don't see why you need pro. So I think its only a 60.00 investment. Unless Spriter can be used the same way then Im all for that. They really should get away from the whole pro thing and just sell it for a decent price.

Just discovered this which is free and open source. Not too clear on exactly what it is though - is it a tool or just middleware?

http://dragonbones.github.io/

Edit: It appears to be a free plugin for Flash (Studio), so no dice for many of us.

Looks the same way as spine and spriter, but free wuutttt! Eventhough says its only for flash..? Do you think we can use it to work with stencyl somehow and mobile developing?

It's free, if you own a copy of Flash Studio to use it with. But to be clear this is not supported by Stencyl and doesn't have an accompanying Haxe library to support it.

I see, well whatabout spine? Were you guys able to make it work with stencyl with your method? I beleave most of us have been waiting for a tool like these to combine with our stencyl developing, and would make things way easier on my mobile game project  :D

I took a second look at Spriter, and it's a total no go until someone in the Haxe community ports over a library that supports the newest version. The year old Haxe library wouldn't have been hard to bring into compatibility, but it allegedly lacks all the functionality added to Spriter in the past year and therefore is pretty useless if it even works at all.

use the hotkey "k" to set your keyframes. It really eliminates any need for pro in my opinion. Move bone hit k....etc. Otherwise you will make a bunch of adjustments and not understand why the heck non of them saved.

This is great news. I have friends who are professional animators using Spine.
If Spine & Stencyl works well together, I can think of adding more sophisticate characters animations to my games.
Spending some extra $$$ to buy a license is not really a problem for people who are serious about making games.

Hi guys,

I've just created the basic block-friendly spine extension and it works very well.
Currently it supports animations loading, render code and animations change.
Now I'm trying to support animation mixing and animation activation/deactivation.
I think i can upload the first beta version at the end of the week.

If you like to see some specific feature supported, feel free to request and I try to implement it.
