I am considering adding a few dozen stars for the sky as actors with no collision shapes and no behaviors rather than create a background image. Can this be a burden? Can it cause the game to run slowly or other drawbacks?

From my personal experiences if there is no collision between the actors there should not be much lag if any...though there are other factors you must look at like the platform you are publishing on and the processor it has, ect.
Zed20 Studios...Check out our apps in the App Store!
