Happy Christmas!

I am very proud to share a new game play demo with you:

This is PC download build 0.279

What is in?
  • It contains all features and content i have been working on in the last months
  • You have 4 bigger levels which appear in a linear way with new themes and also puzzles
  • 2 Planets to visit
  • There are several random encounters that you can attack
  • You have a crew member that you can rescue and he will give you updates
  • A basic mood system which affects various parts of the game
  • Added a lot of sounds
  • A lot of polish in general

What is missing and needs work:
  • Story is missing in general
  • Mood system needs to be advanced
  • Star map, space traffic and encounter system needs to be advanced

This is not an Alpha yet.
What i plan next:

ALPHA:
  • finishing all features
  • balancing & playtesting & bug testing
  • find a final name, build a website and start PR
   
BETA:
  • finetuning & polish
  • translating it to German, French, Spanish

I love it! Especially the music and the overall atmosphere.

Small nitpick: Since you play with two hands on the keyboard, I would prefer it if it were entirely keyboard based (e.g. space instead of click, select with keys in the shop).

Stencyl is a great tool if you dig into it. There are no limitations so far for me (if you stick to 2D) except lightning and so on.
I hope we can get some cool stuff done in 2015 for Stencyl in regards of light and shadow effect.
this is something i want to take a look at for sure.

New Space Pirate updates will be coming popping up in the next weeks. I took a much needed break from my notebook ;)

This game is gorgeous! I'm really looking forward for this game to be released! You should try to Greenlight this~
Also, RPG Maker has a custom script made by someone (cant remember the name) which has a "lighting system". I'm fairly positive that if you dig into it, you'll find a way to replicate it in Stencyl.

That is my plan.
First i have to solve a big fullscreen problem though and add some more features. I need to build a website, twitter account and create sopme buzz first.
I will take a look at the lightning system.

The fullscreen problem  seems to be solved.
I am working on:
  • Mood system needs to be advanced
  • Star map, space traffic and encounter system needs to be advanced
Meanwhile:
...engines can be blown up and harm the hull of the vessel : )

The fullscreen link does not appear to work. Maybe one needs an indie or studio account to access?

Anyway, the new mood bar looks great; much cleaner, and it conveys the necessary info quicker than the old draft, imho.

Regarding fullscreen:
True... its a customer forum.

In a nut shell:
  • Only small parts of the game in fullscreen where showing up
  • i removed several backgrounds in scenes to make it work (which makes no sense)
  • It might be related to starting the inital game in Stencyl 2.0.0 and porting it to 3.0 and 3.2

  • Added destructible engines which slow down speed of vessel(x)

Upcoming:
  • Remove need for using mouse (  )
  • Gamepad support ( )
  • Advance space traffic system (ships movement, spawing and routes) ( )
  • Add random support mission (which raise mood of factions (  )
  • Advance space reduction on damage(  )
  • Add "vessel in critial state" when doing to much damage (  )

Here is a quick update which removes some critical bugs:

0.821b
  • Removed Ai bug and advanced attack script of humans (x)
  • Removed a lot bugs from police ship level (x)
  • Optimized "out of fuel" UI (x)
  • polished fullscreen mode (x)

Nice & fun game :)
but i have problem when player hp decrease without sound (focus searching item and shoot the enemy XD )
better if you put sound when player getting damage :)
