To celebrate the launch of Stencyl 3.0, Newgrounds is hosting a Stencyl-themed jam, with $1,000 in prizes at stake plus free Studio licenses for each winner.

1st Place: $500 + Stencyl Studio
2nd Place: $300 + Stencyl Studio
3rd Place: $200 + Stencyl Studio

All you have to do is submit a Stencyl-made (preferably with 3.0!) game to Newgrounds between now and March 28th, 2014 to be eligible.

We'd also appreciate if you started a topic in these forums (and uploaded the game to our Arcade too!).

Good luck!

Congrats to everybody for taking part in this jam and a big thanks again to Newgrounds for hosting another great jam. The turnout was incredible, and there were many great games submitted.

For those wondering about what's next on this front, Ludum Dare 29 is coming up at the end of this month, so that's bound to be another great opportunity to make a game.

Are multiplayer games allowed? (not on the same screen)

Tom at NG already replied to someone there that multiple entries are fine; although he recommended focusing on one good game.

Multi-player is fine, there is no theme restrictions.

Two questions:

My game will be a stealth platform.  With a huge story to tell between stages.
I plan to have at least 6 chapters.  Each one with 3 till 5 scenes.
Dialogs, intro, and so on...

I am finishing its demo. Kind of a fully playable demo.
Is it ok for me to run with it?

It will contain menu, all gameplay, one complete chapter and in the end a coming soon with images as preview.
Or is it a rule that only complete / full games are allowed?

And the last question:
Who will judge the winners? You guys from stencyl or the guys from newgrounds?

Cheers

I think its solely the rating that matters in that contest.

Hmmm so we can also do the game with 2.0? (I know 3.0 is out and stuff, but i didnt use it yet, and want to wait until i have really time to look into that)

I don't know how fair it may be considering the rating.
If 5 players play my game and rates it 5 stars it will win over a game that was played by 300.000 people (hardly will receive 5 stars from all).

Besides that, one can rate 1 stars to others game just to make it go down on the rating.

That's why I did raise that question.

Great timing on this! I have a game in mind that I should be able to finish and get sponsored in time for this.
Play my new game "Hidden Valley Ninja" here: http://www.kongregate.com/games/kantieno/hidden-valley-ninja

Who will judge the games?

- It's judged entirely by Newgrounds.
- You can use any version of Stencyl. The intent is to use 3.0 of course.

I'd love to join! As I am planning on selling my game, is it okay that I submit a playable and "semi-long" demo?

Wait wait wait... no theme restriction? Then how do you know that I began programming the game within the time limit? I could just post a game i've been working on for the past 2 years...

The last Stencyl Jam had only one restriction: Your game could not have been published before.

- Newgrounds is judging, so whatever you publicly submit is what will be judged, regardless of what your final intent is.

- As long as it's not been published before, it's fair game. I've yet to see a winning entry that took longer than about a month to make.
