Another question. I know that time is kinda short. Are we allowed to use tiles or music from the Stencyl forge for stencle jame entrys or do they have to be made from scratch? I'd have to figure outy how to do the later one.

Can we add the premade behaviors to our games for this contest? How about backgrounds music, etc...?

I assume that using assets from the StencylForge shouldn't be a problem unless you credit the person.
Sure, my games won't get better with all the new features of Stencyl.
But I do have more fun creating bad ones.

It may also depend on the license the resource is put under.
Do NOT PM me your questions, because I likely will not respond. If I have replied to your question on the forum, keep using that topic. Thanks!

You're right.
(Actually, I haven't checked the StencylForge and it's content yet. Do the developers upload licensed content into the public?)

Sounds like its iffy.  I guess I shouldn't then, just in case. I doubt I'll be able to finish anything in time for the contest. Guess it will have to be simple or nothing at all.

Thanks anyways everyone.  :)

I think its solely the rating that matters in that contest.

Hmmm so we can also do the game with 2.0? (I know 3.0 is out and stuff, but i didnt use it yet, and want to wait until i have really time to look into that)

I don't know how fair it may be considering the rating.
If 5 players play my game and rates it 5 stars it will win over a game that was played by 300.000 people (hardly will receive 5 stars from all).

Besides that, one can rate 1 stars to others game just to make it go down on the rating.

That's why I did raise that question.

Newgrounds ratings give a lot of weight to view count. A game with an average 3.5 and 200 views will place lower than a game with 3.0 and 1000 views.

I don't personally care for that kind of weighting though, as it tends to give extra exposure to games as a "reward" for having already gotten exposure regardless of quality.

Are games judge by user ratings or is it entirely judged by the newgrounds team?

You should ask on their site to confirm the details. I believe it's done by their team.
