Well here is my submission for Stencyl Jam 2014!

Stencyl Arcade: http://www.stencyl.com/game/play/25433

Newgrounds: http://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view/636463

It has taken me about 4 months in my spare time.

The levels/items/monsters are randomly generated each time you play so no two play throughs will ever be the same!

There are multiple ways into the castle that offer different benefits, can you find them?

Currently 20+ enemy types, 5 bosses, 6 weapons, 6 spell types, 3 items and 3 routes into the castle.

I had planned more but ran out of time. If I do add to it, the next thing will be multiple endings depending on what items you find.

Any suggestions or bugs please post here (suggestions I got were names for the heroes and a map, which were great suggestions that I included into the game as I would never have thought of them on my own!).

Thanks and hope you enjoy playing!

If you run out of food you die! You use one piece of food every time you enter a room.

You can keep an eye on how much you have in the inventory.

308 not a bad score for first few plays :)

For anyone that has played the game, what do you think about not giving the player a weapon to start off with?

I did this so there is a choice, go straight to the castle entrance where you are guaranteed a weapon or explore the forest first which is risky (as you might not find one straight away) but has its own rewards?

I am just wondering if it puts people off?

Does the scenes are created random?
Btw, I've seen those sprites before, where did you get them?

Yeah enemies etc. are randomly generated.  The layout of forest and castle is random too.

Sprites are from www.oryxdesignlab.com

Oh I see, thanks for the info.
I think I'd get more fun making my own sprites than buying those hehe
