Awesome work Matt, truly; you've inspired me to quit messing around and use Stencyl as the brilliant tool that it is. What you've accomplished so far is remarkable; best of luck finishing.

This might be something you've already addressed (I apologize if that is the case), but I can hear the ambient sounds (particularly the wind noise) cutting out and reloading whenever the scene changes in your Gameplay Video. Have you found a possible workaround in Stencyl for this? It's not bad at all, but I worry that it might break the flow of the game for nerdy sound people like myself.

Also, always proud to see a fellow Columbusite creating such great work! Seriously, I'm so (insert your favorite swear word) excited to play this.

thanks :) the sound stopping and starting with each scene is deliberate. it's to impart a feeling of pace and to pronounce the differences in sound between areas. the background noise is 2 sounds playing at once, and different scenes mix their volumes differently such to create different textures.

How did you make this game?

if you have any more specific questions let me know and I'll do my best to answer.

I am not a Stencyl user, normally use Construct 2 and just happened upon this discussion when looking around at the other available game creation tools, I read it front to back and just had to sign up to say that this looks incredible. Very atmospheric and the story hints from that longer gameplay video were very promising. Certainly has inspired me to try harder with some projects.

Wish you all the best with the project, hopefully it comes out soon (and has controller support).

Glad to see the game coming on so well. Came across some beta videos people have been putting onto youtube the other day too!

Doesn't seem 2 minutes ago since we were in the chat room talking about you starting this game!

Shall be purchasing once complete :)

last I checked you need to go through the greenlight process -- I think the greenlight process may be going away or may go away in the future, not sure, but the way I got in is I went through greenlight.

so you put your game listing on and steam users will vote if they like it or not based on the information and video and images you provide. if enough vote that they like it you get to list on the store, at which point they supply the documentation and stuff and it's, at least for the most part, not that hard to follow.

seems a lot longer than 2 min to me. :) and the beta videos posted by other people were a bit surreal and fortunately everyone was pretty kind to it.

Thanks a lot for the reply!

But i meant... how to integrate the steamworks feature to the game(achievements etc.)

It's easy to implement such things in stencyl? do you have to know a language like C++?

I couldn't find in their FAQs if it's obligatory to add those features into your game.

you might have missed that droxon, its recommended, but not compulsory.

Are Steamworks features required for distribution on Steam?
Many of our Steamworks features are popular with customers – like Steam Cloud support and Achievements. While we recommend that you include them in your games, they are not required.

but, I also would love to know,  whether the implementation was pretty straight forward.

So this is still all done in Stencyl? I thought you went over to another engine?
But hey, this remains by far the best looking game I have seen with Stencyl! =)

Just wondering, how many backups do you have? and did you upgrade your stencyl since the start of this?

thanks :) and yea it's still done in stencyl.

there are too many backups to count, I habitually save several new backups on any given day that I'm working on it, and save at least one of them to a remote destination over FTP every day, as well as put them on a backup hard drive.

It's going to be used on my Starting Indie Developer community.

Cheers!
