I just started making a game for kids. It is going to be a theatre where they pick which characters they want in the play. I think I managed to get a crayon look to the puppet. This probably isn't a final image, just something to start working with. If anybody if interested in the crayon look, here is what I did:
In pencil, pick a color slightly darker than what you are going for.
Create a new layer and pick the brush tool.
In Advanced settings, make the following changes
Opacity down to 1.5 notches
Roundness down to 3 notches
Scale variation up to 100
Rotation variation up to 30 (the first notch)
Tint to about 1/4 of a notch
Set blend mode to Average before merging
