I like the fourth icon. Considering how those icons could look like on an iPhone, in my opinion the birds in the second and third icon would look too small. Despite that, I also like the third one, but since iOS rounds the corners of your icon, isn't part of the blue bird cut off?

I haven't played your game on an iOS device yet, but I played it when it was a Flash only game and I had a lot of fun. I wish you the best of luck!

I think the second and third ones look too busy, especially for a phone icon. I vote for the fourth.

Yeah I agree with this, switch my third to four too.. I was going four originally but kinda felt like showing the birds coming from behind is what the game is about too, but it does make it too 'busy'

Thanks all for the great input!

For now I'm going with a mix between #2 and #3, mainly because my update got reviewed a couple days quicker than expected, and that's the icon I had in the update at the time. :)

@Photon, see if your phone can install it now, let me know how it plays.

EDIT: 8 days after I put Lava Bird on the app store, I find a clone:  https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/biglip/id895136270
That was fast.

You are going to report that, aren't you? That looks way more like a carbon-copy than a "clone" to me. >:(

EDIT: And no, I still can't download it. Requirements still specify iOS version 7.1 or higher.

Do you have such a success with your app that someone rips it off like that ?
Or should I be worried that Stencyl games can be "cloned" ?

They have just as much chance to be copied as any other game including those on mainstream consoles. It's up to the original developer to call out the copies to the distributors(Apple, Google) since they have literally zero quality control. In this case I can see that the game is absolutely a carbon copy and should be reported immediately.

You don't really have anything specifically to worry about, just the usual :)

thats shocking, what about him using CandyDisturbers music, that must be breaking the creative commons license agreement or something. How did he get all the assets?

TBH wouldn't be all that hard. Take a screenshot and just copy the sprites from there. That's my best guess anyhow unless he somehow got the .stencyl file.

I have submitted a content dispute with  Apple, but I'm not sure what it will do. Does anyone have experience with this sort of thing?

I have never had high expectations of Lava Bird, but I've strived to do the best I could with what I created. Now if you search "Lava Bird" in the app store, the scumbag app (let's not mention the name, and give it any respect in search engines) shows up in the #2 position, and with a more original-looking icon (for now). I am planning to do my marketing push this week, but I know any marketing will send downloads to scumbag as well. Takes the wind out of my sails.

It hurts.

There's a reason I have little to no interest in the iOS store. Truly am sorry to hear things are panning out the way they have. :(
