Yeah I don't even think that one was in the top 5 overall, although it was only one of two positive voted themes in round 4 (the other being the snowman).

EDIT: Full results for anyone interested: http://ludumdare.com/compo/ld31-theme-voting-round-5-of-5/

What's funny is that, if anything, people are celebrating that unicode snowman DIDN'T win.

I sometimes try to simulate that effect by panning the window along with the camera in videos. It's really satisfying.

Haha.

For my game I'm thinking about a puzzle game on a grid, but with none of the tiles or actors leaving the screen, and no new objects being created.  The tiles can shift after each level to make a new one.  Now I just need to narrow down the exact mechanics.  Maybe Sokoban if I can't think of anything else.

That moment when you start making your game after you wake up after the results are out before checking the theme because you are so sure snowman will win...

24 hours left in the compo and 48 hours left in the jam

My game is pretty simple so I'll be in the compo for sure.

What does it matter if you're in the compo or jam I mean I know the compo is harder but what is  the difference ?
Peace

The primary difference is that it's more difficult (less time, no teams, everything from scratch).  I believe that was the original competition before the jam was created to be more flexible.  The rankings are also different for both.

If I make a menu screen and a gameplay screen, would that be violating the theme?
