Slimey's Quest - Play it now

Play as a little green blob pressing switches... Yeah I know, original

Slimey's Quest is a short platformer where as you move and press switches the environment changes around you. I made this game in around 10 hours - all I had free, for the LD31 compo. I hope you have as much fun playing it as I did making it (Arrows to move btw)

All of the moving was done manually (something I now regret) but it goes pretty smoothly. Designing levels was a real pain though. Especially after I added music basically doubling the compile time. (Surely there's a way to cache this btw anyone?)

Wait what? I didn't know there were daily rankings :)

A pixel platformer will always beat an idle game lol

Slimey's Quest has been on NG for around a week now playable here:
http://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view/649851

Today I also released it on Kongregate here:
http://www.kongregate.com/games/Letmethink2/slimeys-quest

If you have time please give it a good rating on kongregate as I hope it can get a much better rating than my other games over there. From the ratings it has had so far it is at a rating of 3.6875 and I'm hoping to keep around that as it gets its first 50 ratings.

Also, I have decided that rather than making a post jam version I will begin to work on a sequel. To begin this I am going to write a dynamic engine for transferring scenes from positions (So any scene can switch ot any other easily)

Edit: Hot new game on kongregate... Wow! The rating is falling heavily though.  3.6 - 3.3 in a few minutes.

Edit2: And... Off of hot new games.

I hate it when people rate like that. Do they not realize that a single developer working for 10 hours cannot produce world of warcraft?

edit: well, hate is too strong a word for it... more like it boggles my mind :)

Realize though that most "hot" Kongregate games are probably not made in a single weekend, so its not surprising that a Ludum Dare game would have a hard time making it into that list. Doesn't mean its bad, just means it has a hard time competing with games that had a lot more time for development and polish.

And... Back on hot new games for a little bit xD. It seems the minority of players that play it when it is just new are voting it nicely while the more critical players are making the rating go down. I wonder how many plays it will end up getting. Also I do agree with Photon on the matter above.

Edit: and off again.

I had popped on and gave it five stars. It is better than a lot of the "polished" games :)

So I was looking at Newgrounds and realised that it now had a banner instead of the game on the front page. Wow... Tom must've liked the game xD
