Hey guys,
i was just wondering if any users have made a significant amount of money from mobile ads, in game purchases or anything while using stencyl. I just need some inspiration to see if it is possible.

Thanks, choppedupmonkey.

Since I've actually made some money now, I guess I'll post.

February 2015:
$540 for designing a card game's mechanics
$260 for selling a 2048 styled game
$20 for some quick game design feedback
---$820 total

I have two games projects that I've finished where I should have been paid $100 each for. But payments are being stalled on each. And then there are a few other projects in the works with payment upon completion. Hopefully those will go into a March summary :)

I'm still trying to figure out my first solo release. All of my games that I like making will take a long while to finish. All of the games that are close to being completed, I'm bored with.

Great Ceosol!

A net profit of 820$ / month is a great income for
1. doing something you love
2. doing from home
3. In India (I'm in India ;)). I was just looking this from my point of view though.

BTW, what's the card game? Is it there in your stencyl arcade?

No, I sold the code. I can't show it in the arcade since I do not own it :)

There is always money in any type of mobile engine, as long as you are creative and don't mind putting in the hours. Set a goal and reach it, it is the same as anything you want to try and be successful in.

Just as an example, I have bought software for 100 dollars and made 35k in the first 3 months re skinning.

There is a quote, I refuse to let the distances others are willing to travel to contentment limit the distances to which i am willing to go. .... By which you shouldn't need inspiration from the success of others to prove you can be successful, The question is more relevant and more likely to inspire if it were more accurate, such as, Has anyone made any real money from a game on Android, or iOS? The answer is yes off of things such as flappy bird that was making in excess of 50k a day, and has been reproduced here which answers the question, if the software can reproduce a hit game, of course it can produce one, for the right developer with the right vision.

This is very inspirational. Ever since I was a little kid I always dreamt of being a video game reskinner. To hear that I can make 140 thousand dollars a year living my dream brought a tear to my eye. Thank you. I'm going to go rip off some games and rerelease them with different graphics under new titles now. I'm so excited! :D ;D :D

@r1219218 wow, those numbers are impressive, can you tell more about this?

- Were those games made with stencyl?
- What type of game are them?
- How many times you re-skinned that game??

it's pretty inspirational to see someone making good money with indie games.

Well said!! Stencyl is really awesome. What makes it much more beautiful is it's awesome community. Never seen anyone who wants their competitor (Well in one way or the other) to achieve things!!

Re-skinning games for profit is pretty immoral. Think about what it means to reskin a game.

Haven't you been offering your services to people making flappy bird clones?

I was contacted to help someone program a game that turned out to be a flappy bird clone and I felt really bad afterwards and decided to never do anything like that again, so the word "been" is clearly inaccurate since it only happened once and will never happen again. additionally, basing a game on a more popular game isn't nearly as bad as reskinning.

reskinning requires no creativity, no talent and contributes nothing to the world. reskinners aren't game designers, and they're barely game developers. if you're neither of those things, and you're releasing games anyway, what good are you doing? the idea of reskinning is to take a game that's probably a clone and compile multiple versions of it with different graphics and audio so store curators and the general public are less likely to catch onto your greedy, selfish scheme. it's nothing more than a trick. the idea of money is that it's supposed to represent your contributions to society. the act of reskinning is not a contribution. reskinners do not earn money: they swindle their way into it.

your entire existence is a gift that you've been graced with despite inconceivably insurmountable odds. the fact that you're conscious, on earth, as a human, is nothing short of miraculous. probabilistically, you shouldn't exist. don't use the most valuable and precious thing in the universe, your existence, reskinning games.
