I couldn't agree more. The hardware is just the icing on the cake. It's the innovative and unique feature(s) that will drive the new console.

I do love getting caught up in all the rumors though. It's a ton of fun.

Whenever a new console comes out, it does get quite exciting. I can't wait to see what Nintendo will do to make gaming all the better. Like Irock, I do think speculating is fun, and it helps keep the hype up.

When I put those tech specs in my calculator it makes a happy face.

The trouble is that IGN aren't the most trustworthy source of leaked console information. As for the touchscreen thing it will be interesting how they pull it off as a cheap controller.

If Nintendo is going after the core gamers again I don't see how they'll be successful if they keep the Friend Code thing going.  The Online is so ridiculously limiting in Nintendo consoles.

Pretty sure the 3DS already addressed that with the universal friend code system (rather than individual game friend codes it used to have).  Looking at the 3DS online in general it doesn't seem they are skipping over it this time.

3DS universal friend codes are a definite improvement, but it's still not something you can simply tell people to remember so they can add you when they get back to their consoles.

I'm all for innovative features, but let's hope Nintendo can better encourage third party developers to make stuff on their platform. As fun as the Wii was for its time it had a very small library of games.

You mean the Wii's library was small in terms of games you liked. The Wii had the largest library of the three consoles, but to be fair, many were either lackluster or shovelware.

My thoughts exactly. I'm not picky with games, I'd play anything from Big Brain Academy to The Conduit. Despite the large selection though, the overall quality seems underwhelming. Then again the few good titles I did have were played to death twice over.

3DS FC is still horrible.

You can't communicate with people you haven't shared FCs with.  It's difficult to impossible to befriend random people you meet online because you can't talk to them and will usually never see them again.  There's no history of who you've fought and no place to add recent players to a friend's list.  Your friend list can only be like 100 people long.  It's better than it was but still bad.
