Forum Suggestion - subscribe (follow) a thread /topic

It would be useful to be able to follow topics.  Quite often I read a topic that I know will be useful for me at a later stage and try to remember to keep an eye on its development but ultimately forget about it.

Could there be a way to 'follow' a topic when you get notified of new posts?
