Making a living on stencyl my dream
I wouldn't be too hasty there. Indeed, its a pretty significant sum of money, but $25,000 for a year isn't necessarily as fluffy as it sounds (plus, as mentioned, we aren't accounting for rev share cuts;) compare this to Mike at Ludum Dare who was asking for what was probably a close to bare minimum $3,000 a month to cover living expenses, which is $36,000 a year. I'm sure he's very pleased with the results, but I'd guess its by no means a complete living. Colburt can correct me if I'm wrong though.

Just wanted to make sure we're being real about things. :)
But that's not the case for everyone. I dream of Stencyl as a savior from my day job. :) If I could make such an income like colburt did this year, I would definitely consider quitting my day job seriously. Because in India, this is a cool sum of money.

Of course, I may not quit if I have to share big sum from this earnings with anyone else.
If I helped you at anytime, help me back build my twitter followers :)

Look at the revenue Mike is making, it is closer to $1000  a month. I am also making around $1000 a month. My base expenses are around $12,000/year so I am hitting close to the mark each month in terms of revenue. I would be extremely happy with what Colburt made. It would cover my expenses, get a nice chunk of change into my retirement accounts and even leave me with a little to play around with.

I would like to make even more money than that, of course, because I could start hiring friends and/or Stencyl developers to work with me on projects. It might help them live a happier life :)

You will also have to take into account any taxes taken out. That's if you live in the US though, I'm not sure how other countries handle it.

Even then it's still nice see people having success in the IOS App Store, considering how hard it is to make any amount of money on their.

Yeah I have a part time job and also I'm a full-time student and get a student loan. I have to pay tax on the earnings etc but still a good amount left over to buy some toys and invest in the next projects.

It's about time mate :)
A bit of free time for the rest of the summer will be really useful :)
Proud member of the League of Idiotic Stencylers! Doing things in Stencyl that probably shouldn't be done.

Our 4 games have now reached a total of 1 million downloads on iOS which I'm really happy about. Battle Golf has the bulk of the downloads at over 460K, wrassling also has around 420K.

Great figures! well deserved, I also make some money with my stencyl apps, similar to your figures but not as many downloads, I'm pretty happy with Stencyl and it's flexibility, I feel like I can make any app I want with top control over it and performance, I also make simple non-game apps

Hey, this is great, well done and thank you for sharing this info, it's very encouraging :) Most people avoid saying these details, so for someone who's just starting making apps, it's quite tricky to have an idea about the income.

Do you have these games on Google Play too? I'm curious about the differences, because from my research I found  that Apple's better money-wise. Is that true?

LIBERADO: Indeed :)

This is a very nice comunity, isn't it? I haven't really been active, but every now and then, when I had time to work a bit on my little game, I also checked what's new on the site and the forum. And every time I did, I found people to be very friendly and helpful :D
