Hello Stencylers :) !  I think it would be great if the Stencylpedia could be edited by anyone. Sometimes there are mistakes or new topics that need to be added. And  Master Stencylers are busy enough moderating the forums and fixing bugs it could be a long time till the Stencylpedia is updated. Besides for that it would also be awesome if users could update the Stencylpedia. There was actually a topic for suggested articles in the Stencylpedia to be added but the topic is abandoned. So the suggestion is that Stencyl should allow anyone to edit the Stencylpedia :) !

No not anyone, anyone that proves there worth with Stencyl maybe, to many cooks spoil the broth, it would end up being laden with incorrect or opinionated information, and to moderate it would completely defeat the point as it would just add to the current workload

It is a good idea, there is many outdated information in it. For example iOS certification progress...

@DTH , Yes , I was thinking about that.  So maybe it should be anyone who has at least like 900 posts or something, to prove they were with Stencyl long enough  and know what they're doing.

So you suggest leaving the only official documentation open for editing? Even outdated documentation written by the devs is better than ¨new¨ documentation written by somebody that barely made anything complex with Stencyl.
Having the Stencylpedia opened would simply make it resemble a blog post, and that's the last thing a developer would want to see in the official documentation for the engine they chose.
Proud member of the League of Idiotic Stencylers! Doing things in Stencyl that probably shouldn't be done.

StencylPedia as a Wiki has been considered in the past, but I guess the idea was discarded for the mentioned reasons.

If anyone wants to work on StencylPedia articles (big rewrites or small corrections) please just contact a Master Stencyler and we can apply the changes.

See, that's one of the things I love about Stencyl, the informal attitude of the company, users are not just users but potential contributors , I don't know Stencyl well enough yet to consider my input of any value, but maybe oneday :)

@captaincomic, how about a system where users can make edits as drafts and have the drafts pending and for the drafts to become published a mod has to approve :) ? That way there is no problem its still going right through the mods hands so there is no false information.

Yes, Jon decided to move Stencylpedia to Github which allows (approved) edits by everyone. That's probably the perfect compromise between a closed format and a Wiki.
