The Monster Inside...

First off, Hello guys! My name is Tanner Daniels! I'm a 16 year old Dubstep producer / Ex-Game developer. I don't Game Dev anymore, but I participate in every Ludum Dare. Ludum Dare is the only time I can look back on my past hobby. Ludum Dare is my most anticipated 3 weekend of the year, I've counted down the days since the last Ludum Dare! I'm supper excited about this entry! This is defiantly my best yet, and I hope you think so too. Keep in mind, I'm a dubstep producer.... Even if you guys rate me low, I will still feel like a winner from the experienced I've gained from this game.
Back to the point...

The Monster Inside is a game about the story of a kind monster at heart, who cannot control is rage. He is banished too the darkness, where it is even harder to control his rage. He cannot control the monster inside of him You must consume the light to keep your rage in check. You must avoid unfriendly objects, if you hit them, your rage increased by a random number. The point of the game is simple, don't let your rage reach 100%! If you reach 100 rage points, you go into rage mode, where you slaughter everything around you, including humans. When you enter rage mode, the rage becomes more than you can bear, you explode from rage if you don't consume a certain number of light before the 10 seconds! For more details, see the rules in the game.

This game, I stepped out of my comfort zone in aspects of art. I am a terrible artist, but this LD, I focused on improving my art, and I think it turned out well, but that's up to you to decide.

I AM A DUBSTEP PRODUCER, so I wanted to make audio the main focus of my game. I spent a long time making these songs (probably longer than I should) and I also modulated my own voice to create a sick vocal intro to this game! My goal and dream is to reach top 100 in audio... Pleas help me fufil my dream if you fill I deserve it!

Thankyou for playing this game! And I hope you enjoy playing the game as much as you enjoyed playing it!

-Tanner

From a non-developer you mixed good gaming elements together.
Good luck with your goals.

Thank you, that's means a lot to me. I was alittle worried I left out the fun and mood in this game, but it seems people are enjoying it.

"It sounds like you have multiple layers of songs playing at the same time. That is really interesting in terms of timing upbeats to match what is happening in the game. The design is simplistic, but the ambience is very intricate. Nice job."

I actually didn't, but I did notice that it does feel that way sometimes.

I agree, you have good, simple gameplay elements that make the game more fun than a typical "avoid" game, especially the chance to reduce rage. And great music. You could definitely find a better "hurt" sound that matches the mood. Good job overall.

Boring gameplay, annoying music. You say you wanted to make audio the main focus of the game, but what about basic sounds for jumping, dying, etc?

Somebody woke up on the wrong side of the bed.

I did, if you couldn't tell by the unique Vo-Coded intro and songs. I focused the most on the intro and the songs.

I have sounds for everything that happens in this game, but you cant hear it over the sick dubstep pumping into your headphone!

What's the point of sound effects if you can't hear them?

In essence, this is simply a music which happens to play alongside a poorly executed game. I guess that would be OK for a "music jam", but Ludum Dare is a game jam.
I get your objective - to focus on the audio - but in achieving it you neglected the other aspects needed to create a compelling game. Take the music away from the game, what's left?

My opinion still stands - there isn't much to the gameplay and the music is a matter of taste.

Your treating this game as if it was something I've been working on and planning to create for months. This was all made in 48 hours, for a theme I wasn't expecting. This LD's game play is less original and exciting than my past, but it is solid, which most LD games lack.

Audio is a very important aspect of any game. Art it self isn't a game, but art is a crucial part to all games, same thing applies to audio. The gameplay of this game, is a very common style, so I created the Rage mode. Everybody else says they like the game. I want to know what you would do differently, not just hear your insults.

WZG, don't worry about someone not liking your game. Most people don't like my LD entries. It doesn't matter because I do not make the games for them. I make them to push myself to try something new. If someone likes it, cool. If they don't like, also cool. Alexin didn't like your game, that's fine just let it go.

I don't like this entry, obviously, but I did not insult anybody. Instead, I gave my opinion fair and square, no sugar-coating, and I also attempted to justify why I don't like this game. I was pragmatic knowing this was made in 48 hours, as can be any judge of your this Ludum Dare entry.

To clarify, I didn't mean to attack you. I thought a bit of constructive criticism would be helpful to you, as far as games are concerned.
To clarify further, I can't make games for the life of me.

Think of Christ before accusing someone else. ;)

Loved what you have made here! My two bits:
-Rage mode is the best part about the game. As a player I look forward to it. This dilutes the goal of the game, which is to collect 'stars', as collecting stars prevents me from going to the rage mode.
-Visually the game is to quiet, which is just not backing the tone that the gameplay and the sfx wants to achieve. You can afford to cycle the player up all the way and bring back again,
