Open World without rooms

If my game world is going to a long wide pre-designed corridor without rooms to enter that the character can go back and forth,  what is the best way to manage the game flow.

Do you mean when you enter a door you will go to another scene and when you go back you will end up in the same position?

No its an open world that is a canyon with steep sides so the character can go forward and backwards and the state of the enemies, inanimate object and Non PLaying Characters is kept.
