Open a Resource by Name

Does your game have 300 resources? Wouldn't be nice if you could open a resource just by typing in a couple characters?

Now, you can in the latest nightly build.

Ctrl + O (while a game is open) will bring this up. Type in the full or partial name, and the list will filter down.

Hit Enter to open it, or press the arrow keys to navigate to the right one.

After you get used to this, you'll never want to go back to the old way of opening a resource up!

This is part of the upcoming StencylWorks 2.0 release, where among other priorities, we're working on ways to make game creation with StencylWorks significantly more efficient than it is today.

That'll help once I get in all sorts of items I've been planning... plus even more enemies. I have at least 30 different items planned at the moment, some of them pickups, some of them you can buy.

Tested this in 1.3

Control O to open list of resources. OK.
Filtering. OK.

Once resource is selected, I've 2 ways to open it.

A. If I hit enter, the resource did indeed open.
B. However, if I try to click open to open resources , it did not work and nothing happened.

Greate and helpfull feature, only one suggestion, I think this function became more powerfull if to make only 4 filters in search option - everywhere (default), actors, actors logic, scene logic. (if it's not too hard to make it, because now everything is good too)

If we add anything, it needs to be easy to control with the keyboard (you shouldn't click the mouse at all while using this) - what do you propose as a solution to accomodate the keyboard for that?

I think it must be 4 small buttons(16px height) below the search field, with icons (all, actors, actors logic, scene logic) or without it. So, when we are typed search letters by default it searching in all and hover button "all" and than we can use keyboard arrow buttons "left", "right" to shift between search buttons and activate this buttons with enter press or without. Anyway this is almost impossible to use Stencylworks without the mouse, but searching by categories allows us to not go back to game center each time when we need to open some resource. work will be faster.

The directional arrows are needed to control the caret. In analogy to tab switching, we could use ctrl-<> or Tab to switch categories.
