Build 9170 - May 11, 2016

This release further improves upon the prior one, which we kept around for a while because it worked well for many.  Alas, a lot of improvements have been made in the past few months, so we wanted the public to enjoy these changes. Unless something's gone awry, this will be the final "beta" release before 3.4.0 is finalized.

See this page for the list of changes.

Anyone else having trouble with Left/Right movements in this version? I've tried several games that use 2-way, and 4-way actor behaviors, and my horizontal movement keys refuse to work.

UPDATE: Tried it again, and the keys suddenly started working again!  :)

Wow ! Congrats Stencyl team ! 3.4 is really getting there. Will there be another game jam to celebrate when 3.4 is released ?
Peace

The differences aren't so obvious at first, however, you do start to notice the improvements from the newer, better block design and snapping methods, as well as the new placement of things the "Pallet" which boosts some of the user friendliness of Stencyl. It's subtle but definitely there. After that, there are other improvements which I have yet to explore.

Looking good so far. I heard the completed 3.4 version will contain better documentation of every block too?

The enhanced blocks guide has been available for a while now and isn't tied to 3.4 in particular.

I got 3.4 but the region placement function no longer works. Im using an older dell with XP.  My Alien 17 is sick.    Oh yah, I am building a large game and I am only half way done. I get 90% memory used.  WTH?  Does any one have a clue?  THX Pete

There's an article about the 90% memory warning and how to fix it. Is Windows XP even supported anymore? I didn't think it was.

Thank you! Great improvements Jon! :)
May I ask one question? As you can see VR is break into the mobile games development too and I already see many VR games in the appstores.
Is there any chance that Stencyl got this feature in the future?
What do you think?

Neotron; how do you think Stencyl should offer a VR experience if it doesn't have support for a third dimension at all?

I know Stencyl is a 2D platform, but I already saw some very promising projects where we can "fake" 3D. For example:
http://www.stencyl.com/game/play/11400
And I also made a "3D" soccer game with Stencyl.
Btw, if not possible to duplicate images, then maybe Stencyl developers should create a new Stencyl 3D platfrom because VR will be a HUGE hit in the next few years and Stencyl users will use Unity or someting else with 3D if there will be no Stencyl option.

Steam estimates 0.14% of users have VR headsets, which is 1/714.  Making a brand new engine to support such a tiny playerbase would be a terrible business decision, even if it means some devs rush to 3D engines hoping that VR is the next big thing (which is just speculation and not supported by data).

Yes Rob, you are right. Atm is not a big thing. But there is no Oculus on the market and HTC Vive is very expensive, Gear VR only supported certain Samsung mobiles.
However I see the first arrivals of chinese VR sets (for example: http://www.bobovr.com/).
I already tried it because plenty of VR games on Google Play right now. I am AMAZED and these numbers and users will increse rapidly in the next 2 years. Innovation never stops..;)
