My computer is 32bit and won't support the 64bit version. The guide says to install the 64bit version so I'm wondering if the 32bit version will work.

It will not work.
Thats the limit of 32bit Java.
The max memory you can allocate for a 32bit Java on a 32bit OS, is around 1.6GB of RAM.
The max memory you can allocate for a 32bit Java on a 64bit OS, is around 4GB of RAM.
The max memory you can allocate for a 64bit Java on a 64bit OS.... well,
you don't have to worry about that, 32GB and beyond works just fine.

The bigger your game gets, the more RAM it needs for Stencyl to load and handle the project.
Unfortunately, for now, you are stuck with developing only small projects,
until you upgrade your PC to 64bit and use 64bit version of Java.

As "iii" described briefly how things works, but try to open 1 tab each time, also install the resource monitor extension that you can find in stencylForge->extensions->Resource monitor, then download it. it will let you to clean the memory whenever you want, it will help you little bit, and as i mentioned try to open 1 tab at the time then close it to open the second tab. and try after each save to free up some memory using the resource monitor extension.
