Regular jam rules apply, but there's no way to check when assets were created so we're operating on the honour system here.
This may become an important problem for the participants. It seems that some participants are using third-party assets for this jam. Is it allowed? Do the participants have to create their own graphics and their own music and their own sounds? To avoid unfair advantages or disadvantages, I think that a more specific information about the ruling on assets is required.

What about Fonts?
Fonts created outside the Jam period seem pretty ubiquitous, do we have to create our own?

I had thought to ask about that before I went offline. I assumed that it was operating under rules similar to the LD Jam -- outside assets are allowed, but participants should opt out of judging in the respective categories. It should be clear from the game's credits page what outside assets were used.

If that's not the case, I'd like to know so I can find some time to make music and sound effects.

@merrak, I have the same doubts.
I think it should not apply rules which have not been clearly specified before the start of the jam.

I feel like people using outside assets really don't have that much of an advantage, since free assets usually aren't of the highest quality, and it's really hard to find all the things you need and still have them be cohesive.  At least, as far as graphics are concerned. Sound is a different issue altogether. Anyone can make their own art and have it look decent, but making all your own sounds is just not realistic if you want them to be high quality. I think it's a given that a lot of sounds are going to be taken from elsewhere. However, I think the game descriptions/credits should specify whether some/most/all of the assets are their own, so the judges can take that into account.

Yeah, open source assets etc can be used. Try not to get bogged down in the rules to much, I know there are prizes available but its really just about people making games and having fun.

And I also agree that using free assets is not necessarily an advantage, its very difficult to find enough quality open source art assets to make a cohesive visually attractive game. Wonky hand made assets can always compete with professional quality art in areas such as personality and uniqueness.

My game is up! Try it here:

Quick question, how do you get it to play from the website? Seems to want you to download the flash file.
Normally would spend hours looking into this, but the deadline is looming!

In the last step, I have seen two options:

1- Upload a downloadable Compilation.
2- Upload a brouser Compilation.

I guess you have chosen the first option.

My game is to try here:

This is a simple platform game with one level. Get all the sweets and avoid or jump on monsters.

This has been done with involvements of my kids and took few late evenings to complete. First time used Stencyl and it's quite fun to work with.

Yep, that worked, it was asking for zip files, and a html.index file in the root, but i just tried it with the .swf flash file and it worked okay! Thanks.

What's the rule for revisions made after the jam ends? I had a short list of bug  fixes I should make--no new features or anything that would change gameplay.
