Pixel Art Thread

How about we have a thread for all of our pixel art in one place? You can post any pixel stuff you're working on or have finished for critique, or just for show. This could help you get feedback on game art before the game's actually out there, though this thread isn't restricted to just game art.

---

I don't have any new stuff with me now, so I'll start with an older piece of mine: this martini.

I'm not going to make any adjustments to this because, like I said, it's a little old, but I'll take suggestions for future reference.
And if someone wants a place to put non pixel artwork, feel free to make a followup thread.

That is really good Blob. I absolutely love the colors and the design is overall, excellent!

Oh how I wish I could just make a classic turn-based RPG. Hence the pixels. I make RPG battlers to unwind.

My avatar and signature are good examples of all I'm capable of when it comes to pixels. n_n  Simple shapes.  Two frames.  Yup.

Here's a little guy I did for a friend once. He has a "hide" mode to blend into the forest when you're not looking.

I just realized that I never fixed his feet - the "walk" animation looks wonky.
BTW, this is free for anyone to use if they want. Creative Commons etc.

Nice idea, Blob. :]

@Hectate: Looks nice! In general though, try saving all pixel art in PNG, it'll make your art much more clean and close to how it looks in the actual program you pixelled it in. JPEG tends to muddle the image.
@Masked: Lovely graphics, I'd love to play a game like that.

Here's a sneak preview of some graphics for Lit-Switch's new project...

Possibly the best tiling work I've ever done.

I do. In this case the image is just a preview that I'd uploaded to photobucket to show the guy who it was for. Yea, I avoid .jpg like the plague when doing "serious" artwork. Nothing worse than tweaking something until your happy, saving it, and coming back later and realizing it was saved as a .jpg and is all... artifacty.

I like it.  I guess I'm looking at a top-down tileset?

Me too. T_T

Also I really like those tiles.

@Hectate: Whoops! I hope you don't take that as an insult to your intelligence, it was not my intent to sound that way. Yeah, jpeg is absolutely horrible for pixel art.

Yes, these are from a top-down perspective. Even that one is a bit old; I've added more to it since then.

@Masked: D;
Don't worry, I'm sure that game will become true someday! And thanks.

And if anyone is wondering, I was mostly inspired by/used references from:
-LoZ: ALTTP & LoZ: Minish Cap

And I totally missed Manuel's stuff. I like the mock-up on the bottom. Nice clean and simplistic look, but a tad unreadable on the character's part.
I've seen Blob's martini before, but I gotta say it always looks refreshing each time I look at it. The limes taking on a bluish tone makes it feel more realistic, and the colors are nice. Well done!

Sigh. This is one of those areas that I really need to keep working on, but I figure I could always use feedback on my pixel art. Here are some random objects in different styles (32 x 32 for the first three, 16 x 16 for the fourth one).

Edit: Here's a bigger version of the chair and barrel.

How is this, I don't think it's good enough. It's suppose to be an asteroid.
Maybe my idea of an asteroid is too generic, but I'd make it look rougher/chunkier around the edges, and not so much like a circle. Also see how it'd look with some cracks, and darker indents.

I'm currently working on the Super Rocketeer logo, alongside a separate task I've been given, so I'll post some of that later when it's done.

Might as well...

This is a WIP for a long-term game Lit-Switch Productions is working on. I did all the graphics, and am aware of a few tiling inconsistencies.

@Ceric: I am loving those sprites. They look wonderful for an RPG game.
@Derek: Didn't quite get a chance to say this in that thread, but I gotta say how nice that looks. Bright and well sprited.
@blackbishop89: Piggybacking on what Blob said, I also can't quite put my finger on it, but that looks almost edited with more sophisticated software like Photoshop. Not so much hand-placed pixels. I could be wrong though, I hope you don't take offense at my observation.
