Stencyl TV

Stencyl TV is our special area for videos and interactive guides. We've found that videos are an effective means of documenting concepts or processes that words can't convey and are grateful for the work of the individuals who created these videos to help others out.

The first cut of Stencyl TV is rough, but over time, we expect that more guides will arrive and will promote Stencyl TV to a full part of our site and play a larger role in the next generation of documentation that we're preparing behind the scenes.

If you've found or created a video, tell us about it! If you're planning to create one, talk to us about your ideas, and we'll tell you what we think is needed most.

Video tutorials is always a nice way to learn new stuff. Even if it's just following the workflow to the author. I will definitely watch some of those while I familiarizing with Stencyl.

Nice job!

Will there be a part of Stencyl TV for video walkthroughs/ trailers for games, or is simply a learning tool?

I am making a video on the crash course so if anyone gets stuck they can navigate using annotations to the step they are stuck on. I will upload it to youtube as soon as possible.

Nice, very helpful guides...  Could have used these videos back then when I first started stencyl though a lot of them will still help me if I get an unique idea for a game..

Great Resource.

Unfortunately I have found something in one of the Videos - iStencyl Crash Course that needs to be corrected.

Although I know the author is showing usage of iStencyl and mobile controls, in the downloadable kit - iStencyl Crash Course Kit there is a major error in 2 of the behaviors.

Create Particles on Click
Destroy self on click

Please see the attached images for what I mean. The included behaviors for both use a block:

mouse was pressed

This is wrong because clicking the mouse ANYWHERE on the screen causes ALL the blocks to explode at the same time.

The correct block to use is:

mouse was pressed on self

This should be changed for both the above behaviors, if the game is to work properly.

I'll fix this when I get a chance, but it should not hinder its use in the tutorial. It's really only meant as a placeholder.

FYI my next video will go over the app submission process since that seems to be something people are not familiar with.

Awesome. I was just gonna ask you if you were ready to start making more videos. :)

I uploaded the fixed version of the kit just now, hopefully that fixes everything.

Thanks for finding that!  8)
