Yes it is that time of year again. For the first time in 400 years the United States of America will be including a west to east coast to coast SOLAR ECLIPSE predicted to span the entire coast to coast area of the country . This legendary event will take place Monday August the 27th.

What you need to know:

DO NOT LOOK DIRECTLY AT THE SUN AT ANY TIME EXCEPT DURING TOTALITY. This will result in damage to your eyes.

- When in the Path of Totality you will be blessed with the opportunity to stare at the sun but only during the brief period of totalitarianism.
- No one has ever seen a solar eclipse before so we're not sure what is going to happen.
- Do not be inside during this once in a livetime event as you will regret it afterwards and will never witness it.
- Don't forget your space helmet (crucial mistake).

The Map

Do you see your house? If you do not then it is time to get in a car

The Phases

Pre-total

Total. You can look now!

Post-total. Stop looking!

The fun activities section is great, but please consider expanding it with more activities. My kids need something to do in the remaining 10 days leading up to the eclipse, and I'm not sure that wearing a strainer basket will hold their interest until then.

Thanks!!!

Thank you for the reply. I will try to think of some fun activities for your kids.

Here's one:

How about using a spatula as a sort of "item tossing device"? Could be fun

That's all I've got to offer for now.

I'd have to drive 8 hours to be in the path of totality, which is not too bad, but the drive back home though... and then there's my Hurley-like luck which would just bring massive clouds and probably a meteor strike at my location, so...

Personally, I've heard that Wikipedia can be change by anybody, so who's to know who's right, really?

If Donni11 is correct, at least it's coming up soon then. I think my great-grandparents are starting to get tired of flinging things with spatulas. :(

We are one day away from the eclipse. I'm shaking out of excitement. :D

Here's a new one:

How about screwing in some ol' fashioned incandescent lightbulbs? Leave em' on for a little while and after they're good and hot, splash em' with water! They'll explode!
