When I was a Kid - Journal

Hello,
My nickname is Rature, I'm from France (so please excuse my english mistakes ;) ) and I want to introduce my first serious project : When I was a Kid.

I'm working on it for few weeks, making game with Stencyl is one of my hobbies, and I want to create a very simple platformer for Web and Desktop.

I think my project more as an interactive story than a classical video game : it's the story of a lost kid who tries to find his way out of a cave.

I hope you'll enjoy the design and I come back soon with more documentations,
Bye,
Rature

Nice graphics. Sometimes the simplest graphics are the most pleasant.
I'm spanish, excuse me for my bad English.
I'm not a private teacher. Please, post your questions in the public forum.

This looks beautiful! I love the art style. Some of my favorite games are "interactive stories", so I look forward to seeing more of this!

I don't know any tutorial about moving platform, but I can help you if you post in this forum any specific question about platforms.

@rature What would you like to know about it? I have 4 or 5 different styles of zooms prototyped.

Looks interesting.

For the platforms, theres an inbuilt behavior "follow path" that you can use to set what path you want a platform to follow.

There is also on on StencylForge (the icon in the Stencyl toolbar) a "Ride Platforms" behavior.

I used these both in the past and they worked fine.

How long do you think it'll take to finish making  the game?

@liberado : joints look very interesting, thank you for the tip !
@bobbyck : i'm actually using "ride platform" but there's some problems when I jump from an "up an down platform"
@ceosol : thank you, I would like to zoom in and zoom out when my main character enter into a zone (especially for the Boss scenes)
@NickamonPoppytail : I don't know, making games is not my "real" job, it's an hobby, so I guess (and hope) I'll finish it in march 2018 (I usually work into interactive art, using PureData)
@decafpanda : yes I would love to show ingame footage, but I don't know how to do... :( ... can you explain me ?

Hope to see it then (or however long it takes, this looks worth the wait).

You can download Ez Vid for free and upload videos to youtube.   That's how I started getting some footage of my games going.

Since then I have bought the Fraps program and use that.
