Try the 1 GB version. There seem to be subtle rules we don't understand that prevent the 2 GB from running on a computer, even if you have 2 GB or more memory.

This is great!  I have 8GB of RAM on a Mac, can we have a 4GB version?  :o

AFAIK, Java doesn't let you go above 2 GB for some reason. I have 12 GB on this computer, and Java doesn't let me use more.

You know what? I bet a 64-bit JVM would have a higher heap limit.

Edit: Googling confirms this: http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/infocenter/javasdk/tools/index.jsp?topic=%2Fcom.ibm.java.doc.igaa%2F_1vg00014884d287-11c3fb28dae-7ff6_1001.html

A couple of questions:

- Are the files on the first post "compatible" with v1.4.1?
- I have a Mac Mini with 2Gb RAM. I see that for Windows there is a 1Gb version: is there the possibility to get the same for Mac? Or, is the 2Gb version working also on a Mac with as low as 2Gb total ram?

Thanks!

Nev,

One of the files worked for me, sort of.  I used the .zip and it made the 90% error window not appear as usual and I noticed a slight improvement in performance.  Still waiting to see if the window will pop-up as I use SW longer. I'm using a MacBook Pro OS 10.6.8 with 4GB.

For Windows, we've got a new EXE that I think will universally work now. You no longer need to download any alternates except this one.

Let me know if this isn't the case - http://dl.dropbox.com/u/2769678/Stencyl.exe - this will ship in Stencyl 2.0 and only works with 2.0 - you can't use this with 1.4.x or before.

I'm pretty desperate for a Mac OSX version of this.
My class is making an adventure game and it's graphics heavy. We're using 4Gb Macs.
I'm trying to figure a way to load/unload assets on the fly but even in the builder the memory is draining fast.

Cheers.

P.S. First class ever that the students haven't dissed the software. A world first.

You're talking about the toolset, not the iOS games themselves, right?

Also, the article talks about how to do this on a Mac.

Hi, I'm still getting the 90% Memory Usage warning every time I start up Stencyl.  I'm using Stencyl 2.0 and have applied every fix for the Windows version here.  Even allocated more memory to Java (I have 3 gigs) and I still get the message.  If anyone can help with my problem, I'd appreciate it.

How much RAM do you have on your machine?
