Ludum Dare 41: Incompatible Genretor

Once again I am way over my head with the Theme. I had so many small ones in mind for the others. But this one .. sigh ...

Ow well I usually take about four months to complete a Ludum Dare challenge anyway....

Two generations (4 game genres : Pool, Shooter, Memory puzzle, Maze-ish)

Goal looks simple : combine the two red balls

Hopefully I can make a few more genres the next 4 hours. I plan on start the 3D conversion today instead of waiting for tomorrow.

Also this game is again way to complicated to explain how you should play. So I really need a tutorial. But that takes soooo much time.  It is really simple: combine the two red balls, but it looks way to complicated.

Way too ambitious : 4 month Ludum Dare comming up  >:(

Not even the 2D stuff is complete. So I think I will focus on one generated combined genre at a time. (not sure which)

BrakeOut and Platform  Combined with  Simon-Says Adventure Game

BouncingBoardGame combined with  SoccerChess

I was into this to have some mini-games to be ported to 3D so I have enough for now :D

I am not familiar with ludum dare and don't know what it is.
Try shooter and memory puzzle in which you have to show both, your gaming skills and mind skills to proceed further in game.
Best of luck.

@ Vaibhav Sangwan Ludum Dare is a game development competition in which you have to make a game based on a theme that you have to try and make in two or three days I think. I don’t know the exact amount of days; I’ve never participated in the competition.

@mdotedot This looks quite interesting. Hope it doesn’t take four months :P

The 3D version which took me about 2 hours to put together :

The last 6 hours I've worked on level2.

Again, the most time was spend on the 2D 'regular' Stencyl game play mechanic.
The 3D flavor takes far less time.
I didn't plan on the floor cutting the stuff in half but I thought it was a nice effect and kept it.

Simon Says x Water Adventure

3D Version:

Maybe time for one more?!?!

The third level is only partly done. There is a 2D version but I will need
a bit of investigation on the 3D stuff since I want to have a first-person view and
still be able to see the bricks.

I'm actually quite pleased to have made something.
I'm not going to enter it since I don't care about the compo.
Also I'm not going to enter it for the jam.

The theme was my least favorite one, but I was pleaseantly
surprised of the diversity of games that I saw over at ldjam.com.

The current playable game is :

You got further than I did. I saw the theme and immediately threw in the towel :)

That's pretty impressive to see this created in Stencyl in such a short time frame.

Thanks for the interest!

The last level is since yesterday also a 3D one. I didn't quite manage to get the idea in of two different views at a time.
Maybe I will work on that later. Maybe, just maybe!

I will seperate the levels into standalone little games to show how to turn a 2D one into a 3D. Need to add little comments between the code blocks to show why/what I did.
