Overall Help With dialogue

I have a problem / question about the extension. Youtube tutorials wouldn't help, and the provided example game wont load:

Is it as easy as just putting "show text [ "text" ]"  to make dialogue? or do i have to set up other stuff in order to make it work?
Finally, how do you add images in?
 I'm kinda stuck with outdated sources and have no idea what to do.
