Hi! Im new to stencyl, and ive used game maker previously, but im still a newbie at both. The reason I've stopped using game maker is because i was looking for a way to make 3D mmo game like world of warcraft... But im not sure if I can do that with stencyl?
PS, of course I know that i will never be able to produce all the assets that WoW has, alone, but thats ok because im not aiming at WoW quality but at WoW type of game.

If you try to create a 3D game in a 2D game creation software, the amount of work you'll have will be monumental, and you probably will be on your own. MMO-type multiplayer will also require monumental effort and coding outside of the Stencyl blocks, plus the need of a server to run your game world. I don't think you'll find a "plug and play" solution for multiplayer network and such.

So technically it is possible, but highly unlikely. You might be better off going with Unity or something 3D focused.

Luyren's reply was not focused only on the 3d aspect of such a game.
Proud member of the League of Idiotic Stencylers! Doing things in Stencyl that probably shouldn't be done.

Making a game of such huge scale (whether 2D or 3D) in any game engine would be too much work for one person, I would have thought. I'm no expert.. but from the exposure I do have, a lot more work goes into even the most basic functions of a game than I was aware as a gamer. It's been a real eye-opener. Even in a semi-WYSIWYG development platform like Stencyl or GMS2, nothing grows respect for game devs like trying to develop a game. Of course there's a lot of game logic you'll only have to pull your hair out over once and then once you have it working you can export it for use in other projects, but still, even with a basic single player shmup a huge amount of time goes into the game's logic without even considering time spent on art, sfx and music. It takes a team comprised of concept designers, coders, visual artists, sound designers, musicians, testers etc. several years to create an MMO. For one person I'd imagine it would take a life time, even scaled down as you mentioned. There is the old expression "Never say never"... but there's also the expression "Glutton for punishment".

Creating an MMO with Stencyl would be a nightmare. There is a real-time multiplayer extension, but I wouldn’t be surprised if it could only handle x number of players at a time. Aside from the multiplayer aspect, programming things such as an inventory, GUI, etc sounds like it be a coding nightmare. Especially for one person.

I like to encourage people, but a project like that is unlikely to succeed, and not because of Stencyl, in any software you're going to struggle with all that. Start small.
