Video showcase of the big AI behavior in action, as well as the new dynamic soundtrack feature from my soundtrack behavior (which is included in my miscellaneous and cutscene packs).

I think for the next update I'll show some of the progress on the sample game, haven't decided yet.

All the scenes for the side-scroller part of the AI and Combat sample game are done. I'll be working next on the Basic Combat part of the sample game, which should be considerably smaller, and then back to the AI and Combat for top-down stages, which I'm also thinking about making a tad shorter. I need two versions of each to contemplate the paid and free versions of this pack.

I've also finished a new behavior, Quick Equipment Switch. It allows you to cycle through items for any number of equipment slots, and includes shortcuts to specific items and some display options. That of course requires the Equipment behavior from my RPG or Cutscene packs.

I believe after the sample game stages it will be wrapping up the documentation and making an announcement video.

Luyren's AI and Combat Pack is available now! It provides behaviors, which are configurable and reusable pieces of code, that enable your actors to attack, manage health and energy, customize any number of special skills and a robust AI system with which your actors can check for specific conditions in order to execute actions, both on their own and against enemies.

The pack comes in two versions:
  • Luyren's Basic Combat Pack is the free version. It contains only basic melee and ranged attacks, health and energy management, 8 way movement, raycasting and only the Patrol behavior for AI.
  • Luyren's AI and Combat Pack is the full paid version. Along with all the behaviors of the free version, you have the Command List behavior to configure any number of actions and control inputs for your actors, Get Enemy Actors, to allow actors to detect enemies within range, Action Manager to create a full hierarchy of actions the AI can perform, each with their own conditions, and several other AI behaviors.

Both versions come with sample games you can import into Stencyl, in which you can see how each actor is configured, as well as a comprehensive documentation file. Both versions support side-scroller and top-down games, including mouse and analog inputs for aiming and 8-way movement.

This is compatible with all my other resource packs, and the documentation includes instructions on how to update the behaviors with features from those resource packs, such as RPG elements, special effects and cutscenes.

Happy Sencyling!

Anyone know why windows games don't compile ever?

And the sample in flash player causes lag in the second map onward.

Make sure you have the most up to date version of Stencyl (as of today, 4.0.4), and follow the instructions on Stencylpedia for compiling on windows: http://www.stencyl.com/help/view/publishing-standalone-game/

Flash has terrible performance and will be dead in about 11 days, give or take. You should test on HTML5 or desktop targets going forward.

And do you know the best way to make a party member follow you? From map to map as well.

If I know how to do it? Yes. But that is beyond the scope of this resource pack.

You need a behavior to keep track of your party members, and make the party leader create the members when you switch scenes. That is the basic idea.

Do you know how to add combo attacks? Like spamming the melee attack button for new animations?

You can use the Command List behavior for that. Check the documentation and read the available events, particularly the "Combo Trigger" event, and organize each "hit" of your combo in the proper order in the input list.

What is the fastest way to make a dash attack? Without messing with anything.

Im still confused on where to make a new animation/damager from the same button for a melee attack if pressed in a row.

I looked at the documentation.

Which command is used for a combo attack. It appears to only work for combination key presses for the same attack.

Like I want the same button to do a different sword slash if pressed again in a row lol.
