Yes, from what I know, they are coordinating the official launch of 2.0 with things like Stencylpedia 2.0. I also think they are trying to build up a bit of hype with all this demoing and blog posting. On the technical side of things, it sounds like they are having a problem setting up an installer thingy. So it seems to be that everything is changing besides the actual software.
On a different note- I am quite pleased with the production rate of stencyl. I've been with it since beta, and have never failed to be excited by a new update. I also use scratch and have noticed that scratch and stencyl are both on version 1.4 (although stencyl is 1.4.1, but close enough, right), but stencyl is much younger and has many, many, more features. Stencyl is quite a success I'd say.
