What are you working on?

Not sure if its allowed to post newgrounds links or not but this is what I was working on about 10-11 months ago before life distracted me with other stuff.  And now, if I can get Stencyl to open it again I'll start working on it again.

At first it was just a simple test to see if I could re-create Astroids in Stencyl, and I think I succeeded with that pretty good. After that I just kept adding stuff to it,  imo it's pretty decent.     So..yeah, that's it.

Some kind of isometric puzzle game.

Just gotta figure out how to actually make it playable, like being able to actually walk behind/under/up slopes stuff.

Currently working on setting up the attributes for my project. Kind of stumped on whether or not I've got the multiple save slots setup done right. I'm on the fence on the setup of the stats list due to how the retrieval from lists structure in Stencyl works, though.

For multiple save slots I'd recommend using the attribute saving extension.

@Justin: Full folder, .zip file, or just the individual files in the extension folder? Also, am I able to set a limit on how many save files I can have, or should I just not have a limit on that whatsoever?

You mean how to install it? There's a guide here: How to Install, Enable and Update an Extension

You can do anything you want with it. You just have to carefully consider how to implement it. If you have a specific question about how to make such a system work, you can start a thread in the ask a question forum. Good luck!

So now I'm testing out the font for my game, but right now it's making the characters look all jumbled. I wonder if I did the font setup properly, or if it's just a side effect of the "draw text" command.

Have all of you lower case letters be the same height in the editor - meaning leave space at the top.

Maybe make this a separate game journal, also.

Taking a break from my longer project. I (almost) finished a short game over the long weekend... something summer themed, with flying squirrels, garden gnomes, and lasers.

Think of the smallest and concise idea that you can. Write a short list (e.g. 3 such as run, jump and shoot) of game mechanics that you want to see. Write a short list of characters/enemies (again e.g. 3 such as player, enemy 1 and enemy 2). Throw them together. It doesn't matter whether it is the best game ever created. What matters is that you will learn a lot and actually be able to complete it.

For your first project, you need something that you can finish to motivate you to continue.

If anyone watches Steven Universe, I'm making a game called Cat Fingers (based on the episode with the same title) where a cat takes over the player's hand and it's a basic run-and-jump of quickly getting to the carwash to wash off the cats. However, the player needs to avoid the food, or else the cats will eat and grow/spread, slowing the player down, and they spread over time as well. I'm working primarily on the graphics and I'm hoping to get it out within a few weeks.
