Thanks you, rob1221.

would you also prefer if we would build complete games, so you only have to add graphics?
Don't you want to be offencive?, then such sentences are inappropriate. Making fun of ideas that have already been implemented in other successful engines is not very prudent. It's easier to mock than hear suggestions from users. Good thing you are not the creator of Stencyl. I trust that the creator will be more respectful.

Quote
as for things like "distance between x1, y1 and x2, y2 "....................that doesnt even make any sense.
Distance between two points on the scene: point1(x1,y1) and point2(x2,y2)
Perhaps it doesn't make sense for you, but it makes perfect sense for many other people. I did not want to mention other engines, but I also use Construct 2, which has these such functions and many other similar.

and let's not forget "if Actor1 is colliding with Actor2..., otherwise..."
It is a feature that easily enables an event is triggered only once during the collision. Make a continuously true event trigger once only while true, when it first becomes true. It is a very useful function that other engines provide it. Usually it is called "Trigger once".

The Full Guide of Stencyl says: "it's no fun reinventing the wheel or foraging around
on StencylForge when you could get the "real" thing straight from the source."

I agree with that philosophy, I like that way of thinking. Facilitate the work is good. I have no problem with math and physics formulas, but I see that many users do have, and instead of insinuating that they are lazy, I still think that facilitating work in this direction would be a good idea.

My intention is NOT to argue with you, and I will not do it. My intention is to suggest good ideas that have already been implemented in other engines. I love Stencyl, it is my favorite engine, and I would like Stencyl continue to improve and be the best engine ever. So I have created a new topic in the category "Suggestions" of this forum.

Suggestion Archives / Features Request: Essential Code Blocks.
« on: June 26, 2014, 01:36:54 am »
I never understood why Stencyl lacks of code blocks to perform some very essential functions which very often many users need them.

Blocks such as, for example:

if Actor1 is colliding with Actor2...
otherwise ...

or

distance between Actor1 and Actor2
distance between x1, y1 and x2, y2
angle(x1, y1, x2, y2)

etc.

These blocks would solve the problem of many users who often always ask the same things. They are really VERY ESSENTIAL functions, and MANY USERS need them, and would be used very often, and would allow us to work with Stencyl in a way more FAST, and they are blocks EASY to implement.

Many users have talent, creativity, initiative, good ideas for video games, but they have not many notions of mathematics, and have to reinvent the wheel, fighting for hours with the Pythagorean theorem, with polar coordinates and other annoying formulas for lack of the essential blocks that I have mentioned above.

 Something that is so easy to implement and it would help so many people ...

I want to use Stencyl, but I do not like Stencyl not provide such essential, basic and easy-to-implement functions that other engines provide.

Please, add these code blocks to Stencyl.

What are they waiting for?

Where is the difficulty or inconvenience of adding them as soon as possible?
I often ask myself the why. I never understood it.

I hope this is possible in Stencyl.
8) Yes!, it is possible!

It feels like I'm doing it wrong...
:P Yes!, you are doing it wrong!

SOLUTION:

"set player x to..." and "set player y to...", you must put these blocks AFTER each change in the value of the x and y coordinates. (not before)

 ;) I tested it, and I assure you this will solve your problem.

Please, can you provide a link to YouTube showing a example of the type of game that you mean?

Go through Crash Course 1 and 2

2531
Code: [Select]
    /* ======================== When Creating ========================= */
        createRecycledActor(getActorType(13), 543, 0, Script.MIDDLE);
        createRecycledActor(getActorType(7), 543, 0, Script.MIDDLE);
        runPeriodically(1000 * 3, function(timeTask:TimedTask):Void
        {
            createRecycledActor(getActorType(13), 543, 0, Script.MIDDLE);
            createRecycledActor(getActorType(7), 543, 0, Script.MIDDLE);
        }, null);
    }

I just tried this code and it works perfectly after reloading or switching to the same scene.

2532
Perhaps it would be better to switch between frames or animations of the same actor, not between different actors.

Ask a Question / Re: How to implement FLG's HTML5 Api?
« on: June 22, 2014, 10:26:14 pm »
Before using Stencyl, I used another engine to create games in HTML5. It was an engine that I liked, but when I saw the bad performance of HTML5 on mobile, I had to choose another engine, and started using Stencyl.

2534
Be careful, I have found that the effects can cause serious performance problems on android.  I decided not to use effects ever again.

(960x640, sure.)

Using 2x instead of 4x?, mmm... yes, perhaps it is more practical.

Stretch to Fit does not preserve the correct picture aspect ratio.
I do not like seeing the image slightly distorted.

I prefer Scale to Fit (LetterBox) although they appear small black side bands.

;) Matter of taste.
