Ask a Question / Re: Endless "Must install Android SDK" loop
« on: September 12, 2020, 01:54:58 am »
Humm ...
I don't think STencyl's memory is the problem . The message is from haxelib.
Does it work when you build a blank game ( logically yes) ?
 - and when you publish the game in release mode ?  ( it normally takes les memory than debug mode ).

"failed to set dynamic section sizes: Memory exhausted" .

Hmm did you have enough ram ? Maybe  close nearly everything except Stencyl and try again.

I'm not sure :P

you want to be able to change an existing tile with another tile  when you release the mouse on the tile ?

Delete  line (next to the last one)

 <tileset across="6" atlasID="0" desc="" down="0" id="9" name="star" oid="-1" readable="false" shared="false" th="16" tw="13"/>

and it should work :)

Hmm there not much indications.
It seemed to have worked once  "2020-09-10 11:03:47,564 DEBUG [AWT-EventQueue-0] stencyl.sw.util.dg.MessageDialog: Success - The Android SDK has been installed."    But then it still ask you again angain.

Do you have the android-sdk folder ? android-sdk-windows ?   can you open the downloaded zips ?

If you have a good connexion, I would delete the whole android-sdk-windows  and the zips  and try again.

Do you have the logs? Maybe for some reason it cannot connect to the website or cannot install it.

Hmm, I don't know what size you could try.
But it seems for html5 , scaling works a bit differently

 try to put in the advanced OpenFL settings
Code: [Select]
<window resizable="true" if="html5" />
and it should adapt to page automatically.

Hmm what do you want to do ?

Replace all tiles of  certain type A with tilles of type B ?

( I thought it was this, but now that I see the code you're posting, I'm doubting)

Copy your game somewhere ( as a backup) .

 Go to your game folder , goto  the folder "resources".

open data.xml
Look for somthing like this

Code: [Select]
   <actor adamp="0.0" ascale="true" atlasID="0" bodytype="2" continuous="true" desc="" eventsnippetid="31" fixedrot="false" fric="0.2" gid="3" id="75" ignoreg="false" inertia="1.0" ldamp="0.0" mass="1.0" name="languageIcon" oid="-1" pausable="true" physicsMode="0" rest="0.0" shared="false" sprite="76" static="false">
where sprite="9"

and something like this
Code: [Select]
   <sprite atlasID="0" default="0" defaultAnimation="0" desc="" id="76" name="languageIcon" readable="false" shared="false">
        <anim across="1" down="1" durations="100" height="48" id="0" loop="true" name="Animation 0" numframes="1" originx="0" originy="0" sync="false" version="2" width="48"/>
where id="9"

I've never had this problem so I'm not 100 % sur it will work but logically it should. (if it's th case , you can post your broken game and I'll look at it)

I'm just going to answer my own question here. It does work as I expected. I remade the project and it works now. Really not sure why, but I followed the rule:

Don't forget to erase your work often.

Thanks again for all your help here!

I think it's because when you modify something from outside Stencyl. Stencyl doesn't jknow you've changed something  so you have to clean your cache.

So yes better to clean your cache times to times to see if there's somthing not wokring befire the day you want to publish.

4 App is to do something if the text in the file is abcdef - doesn't work."

How are you checking it  ?

Normally it should be possibly.  I have maybe an idea why id doesn't work as expected.

Here's a new FileSave.

I've juste replaced "userDirectory" with "applicationStorageDirectory".
So it doesn't need to save on the sd card.

It doesn't have the same use as the original FileSave as a normal mobile user who doesn't have "root access" won't able to be copy the file or modify the file from outside your stencyl's program.   ( like with file explorer).

If you want to have access to the sd card. you have to set the permission like Justin said.

PS : the sd card isn't a real external sd card. it's the normal mobile memory card, so everyone has as a card.

Sorry I forgot about you ....

I reread the last few posts but I think I understand .

I'm not sure sure appending text to the file  when it is an internal extra should work.
Why ?   Because android doesn't unzip the apk when it plays it. So it cannot write inside of it. Normally you should be able to read it

possible (untested solution) : copy the text from the apk to the userDirectory and applicationStorageDirectory then write to it.

note to self: check what is userdirectory  and appplicationStorageDirectory/

Now it's compiling :) and I'll tell you how to do it with a tested solution

Try closing the emulator before compiling on Stencyl

There seem to be somewthing wrong ...
A few things, what version of android do you have ?

Could you try this FileSave.hx ( I've just added a few traces) ?  and send me the log?
(put it in the external data directory)

Oh in fact, my correction was already on gihub

Try the latest version ( which is on github),
if it still doesn't work I could install it and look at it...
