Hey, I’m happy to announce newest game from KoongFooAfterDark made with Stencyl - Turbo Brain Challenge.

Concentration type game with fast and dynamic gameplay. Begin with very easy starting levels to end up with levels that will push your memory to the limits. Find not only pairs but also three of a kind. To challenge you even more tiles will move, swap and twist in some levels.

Find matching symbols in 54 levels of the Main Game. Collect bonuses and combos for the best score and compete with your friends over Google Play Game Services.

Play for the best time in each of Extra Levels. Each level has a unique layout of the tiles. Play them all.

Repeat the order of flashing neons in the Lights minigame. Try to memorize as many sequences as you can.

Memorize the order and position of the chain of triangles in the Numbers minigame.

Collect 30 achievements through all game parts.

AdMob / AdMob banner incorrect position

I have a strange issue with AdMob Extension with Stencyl 3.2. Whenever I try to set smart banner to be on bottom center it is not showing up (or is off screen)  if I change it to show on top center it is there but not centered, it is positioned left and sometimes part of the banner is off screen, setting it to show right is not changing anything.

I have this problem only with landscape layout, it looks to be ok with portrait. Tested on iOS. It was working correctly on Stencyl 3.1.

Any ideas how to fix it?

Is there a way to view the logs for Android device? I'm going through some cleaning/finding issues process and being able to see the log would help a lot.

Extension Ideas / Extensions and images

My question is: can we use image and imageInstance type in extension (in blocks.xml)?

As far as I know we can use following types when creating extension:
[void, actor, actortype, boolean, camera, color, control, font, group, number, list, anything, region, scene, sound, text, dropdown]

It'll be great to send an image and imageInstance parameters to underlying extension code to make some image manipulation, e.g. dropshadow etc.
Should I use "anything" type and cast it in the code to BitMap or BitmapData or is there a better solution? Or maybe is it planned to extend allowed data types (I mean not only images, but sounds as well)?

It was harder than we thought….

After Mochi was shot down we have decided to bring our little friends to mobile platforms. Original Blattodephobia was made for Flash with Stencyl 2.0 and we had to adopt it to Stencyl 3.0 and mobile environment and that wasn’t smooth job. Using the opportunity we have also made a lot of improvements that made the game very stable. iOS version is already in iTunes and it’s free.

Beware, it’s for those who remember/likes classic arcade games ;-)

Ask a Question / Actor is not not noticing touch correctly

Actor that is used as a button on screen sometimes is not noticing touch correctly. This happens only on mobile (Flash is ok) and looks like random, sometimes it’s working but after few touches it stops and run again after few more touches. For this particular actor/button I don’t need multitouch as this is menu element.

I have used standard “when mouse is released” and actor is generated on screen by “create” block. Stencyl 3.1 (7305)

Any hints? Thanks.

Well, starting with S.3.1 sometimes, during game saving, scene (and behaviours too) names vanish, therefore breaking project completely. Help. Hard to work on the game, when saving is killing it :(

Ask a Question / Tileset messing things up?

Recently we took our 50-level game, developed under Stencyl 2.0 for a little revamp for mobile version.
It all goes well for iOS.

However, we have problem with Android. Game crashes at the very beginning, just after title scene and how-to-play scene, when entering Level 1.
We did tests, removing first suspicious behaviours, then actors, fonts, sounds... finally ended up with just three scenes, no actors or anything else, with game crashing at start.  Only removing tileset has helped (but we need that tileset as you know).

Tileset is 128x144px png, chopped in stencyl into 16x16 tiles matrix.
Game's dimensions: unusual 800x496
Stencyl 3.1

Any suggestions guys, any ideas? Thanks in advance!

We installed two our games on android device equipped with Avast antyvirus. They both triggered alert concerning privacy issues! (please see attached pic).

Please help with this, we'd hate to see comments in google play, that our games threat someones privacy.

Glad to finally announce that our game for kids has landed in the Apple App Store this weekend. Two versions are available - iPhone and iPad HD. We hope to have also Android version soon.

App is 100% made in Stencyl. We have decided at the beginning to use 3.0 beta, it was a good choice but it caused us some delays due to NME issues with sound (sound is very important in this app).

Big Fun Little App (BiFLA) features:

- classic memory game with three difficulty levels
- four different jigsaw puzzles scenes
- three scenes (grassland, pond, farm) to play with animal sounds
- guess who's making the sound mini game

I'm using Stencyl for over a year and I'm payed subscriber for almost a year now. I need to say that I was very positive and optimistic when first saw Stencil and casually played with it. Unfortunately, I was disappointed right after I have bought subscription and start to do more advanced projects. Stencyl 2 can't handle actor collisions right (fault of Box2D). My game was hanging almost every time with three actors simultaneous collision. Game was also using a lot of memory. Having game with a lot of collisions make it unplayable.

I was so much excited with Stencyl 3 beta that I have switched to it right away. It was better in almost every aspect - simple collision, Android support, better mobile testing/publishing, more iOS screens support, etc. but just before publishing my game I have faced iOS sound issue (well known - overlapping music and can't stop sound). I think this is one of the reasons why 3.0 is still in the Beta phase. It was announced that 3.0 will be launched in December but six months later it's still in Beta. Besides, I'm loosing faith to see 3.0 as a finished and fully functional product. Jon's activity on bug fixing changelog thread is not what it used to be. He is also not getting in to discussion about sound bug as he said this is external (NME) and he has no impact on it. Looks like NME community is not really concerned with Stencyl…

Stencyl has/had very good potential but without fixing essential features like collisions or sound it is not capable to support more advanced projects and let monetize from games built with it. Now I'm stuck with ready to publish game, which I cannot publish because of sound problem, and can't count on any help. Do not know when or even if that problem will be fixed. My license is finishing soon. 

Is it worth to buy another year of subscription and is it worth to make another game with Stencyl? Make games with no sound?

To be fair, Flash is working just fine. All my problems are with iOS and Android.

No option in Stencyl to toggle that group registering on/off?
