For some reason the replace item in list, doesn't do anything, I noticed it happening since that build although it might have started failing earlier, or at least for some reason is not working on my sample lists (I never had problems with lists before) thanks

I recently formatted my mac to install mac os x yosemite, apparently everything seems to be ok including java 8 etc, but I'm stuck here when trying to run any app on android=

That file exists, not sure if the double // affects when it should be just one /
I've tried to find info about this but seems like i'm the only one with that particular case

I was wondering about the posibilities of this block, I can see the output is like raw data of the bitmap.
Does anyone know how to handle that long string with the bitmap information?
I was wondering if that string could be attached into an email as an image or sent to a website via php query..etc

Resolved Questions / Draw image for actor ... It wont play the animation

I like to use the drawing function for HUDs and other elements but since a few builds ago (maybe 2) when you "draw image" for an actor that has an animation. It will draw the actor but wont play the animation...

Maybe something to do with the new flash type effects for actors?

This year I haven't released an app yet, and while I'm busy working on a more serious longer development app, I wanted to make something using stencyl 3 and testing the freemium model, ah and also android... the idea started when I saw Tetris Blitz, I really missed the original tight controls, so tried to made something like that, I changed things to give the game a tiny twist (and avoid problems with the big guys!) but kept the looks of the good old game.

It was a surprise to find that left a review without me posting anything on their forums or marketing the app...

Suggestion Archives / Drawing... Switch to STAGE space

one problem Im facing when using stages that are not exactly the size of the screen is the drawing option, I have to always use the function with an actor, place the actor where I want and then draw based on the actor's position. it would be better to directly draw from a scene behavior and keep the stage coordinates but since only "screen" and "actor" positions are available, this is impossible

Hope this option is added sometime soon! :)

One useful tool could be something to get the approximated game size, the tool could show you the size for each platform approximately (x MB for iOS x MB for android, x MB for mac...), and it could show you a graph with the size of the sounds, graphics...

I know it's easy to go the resources folder and check but something more handy would be great

If the tool could contain an automated png compressor and mp3 it would be just awesome hehe

I have a words game, the game consists in picking different letters to create words, when the word is ready the game checks if the word really exists in a dictionary of english words.

All is going well but I want to put "wildcard" characters to pick too, how can I compare a word with wildcharacters againts the dictionary?, bearing in mind that a word might have more than 1 wildcard.

My first approach was to replace every wildcharacter for each one of the 24 possible characters from the alphabet and check, but when a word has more than 1 wildcharacter it becomes too much for the cpu to handle.

Is there something predefined in Haxe for this? (I'm using stencyl 3 beta)



I'm using the latest beta of stencyl 3 and I want to make a word game, I have a list with +200.000 words to check if the word that the player is trying to use exists or not...

Is a massive amount of text to handle, I tried to split the word list into smaller lists, one for the words beginning with A... but that didn't work, the app crashes on the iphone, then I tried a text attribute with the words being separated by a comma, but the same fact it crashes on all the possible formats (understandable)

I guess to split the text into very small lists would work but that would require a hell of a work, I'm wondering what would be the way to do this... anyone can shed some light?

When you use the "behavior" pink block is very easy to find attributes or trigger events of actors by its behavior name.

The problem comes when you use the events tab and not a behavior, you can only see a generic name like this for example: "actorEvents_1" and it's difficult to identify the actor when you have many created...

Could there be a way to see the "actorEvents_number" that belong to each actor, or the other way round, show the actors name instead the generic name, something like "MyActorEvents"

I think that would be quite convenient

I think the grid on the scene editor is great to help you with the layout of things etc, the problem is that it has the same colour of the background, so you can't really see it... if you use a gradient background, then you can see it, but it would be great if it was white all the time or something visible like the opposite colour to the background...

Resolved Questions / new icon for stencyl 3

At the moment I'm using stencyl 2.2 and stencyl 3 beta at the same time, both programs on my mac os x dock, its hard to distinguish them at the moment, it would be great if stencyl 3 had a new or slightly different icon, and I think the new icon could reflect the big step forward that stencyl 3 is.
Just an idea...


I'm a bit confused since all the messages I've read so far about the retina graphics on the iPad 3 say that that will be supported on stencil 2.5 or stencil 3. I did a test today and I was able to visualize iPad 3 retina graphics just fine.

For the test, I chose the Universal (not 2x universal) option under the mobile settings, then I create a scene for iPhone with 16x16 tiles (320x480 scene), for those 16x16 tiles I import the graphics twice that resolution (retina), and using the tiles attached for iPhone you can notice every single pixel of the patterns... so retina for iPhone works great

Then I create an iPad scene (1024x768) with 32x32 tiles, and the graphics I import are twice that size, and again you can see the tiny pixels from the pattern, so retina for iPad 3 seems to be ok, at least with my test I was able to make it work... am I wrong or is that most people use the universal 2x option for iPad, which just stretches the iPhone graphics and for stencil 2.5 or 3 there will be more options for Universal 2x?
