Chit-Chat / Is getting noticed in Appstores getting harder?
« on: January 07, 2020, 08:45:04 pm »
Hi Stencylers,

I've been away for quite a long time. From time to time, I check my thread that lists all apple featured games. I can't find any apple featured games recently in this forum. Is it because developers aren't interested or because the appstore is getting harder to get noticed?

Chit-Chat / See You Soon, Stencyl!
« on: December 01, 2017, 10:32:34 am »
Hello all,

It's been a fantastic journey for almost three years. When I initially wanted to be a game developer without any gaming or coding background, I tried multiple engine just to end up with frustration. When I was about to giveup, my longterm teacher, Google, helped me identify this wonderful software called Stencyl. Things were different since then.

Though I've accomplished a lot (at least according to me), I'm yet to see success. I'm unable to blame it on anyone. Definitely not Stencyl. May be it is just me. I wish I had a lot more beautiful hours to spend with you, Stencyl. You helped me fulfil a lot of my dreams. But dreams don't always feed. To run my day today life, I'm starting a new journey. Web Development - And you gave me the confidence that I can try this.

I've made a lot of friends here. Thanks to all for being so nice to me. Especially you four people:

  • Colburt187
  • Ceosol
  • liberado
  • merrek

And sorry if I've missed someone. The beverage inside my head right now may have clouded your name.

When I was scribbling out of curiosity like a kid, you people encouraged me a lot. I can never forget that. I'm sure this is not my end with Stencyl. I'll just not be around for sometime - which is why the topic says - See you soon!!

I'll continue to monitor Apple featured games thread - It's one way to thank the software and the community for all you've done

Goodbye for now.

Ask a Question / Check If Actor Is Inside A List Of Regions
« on: October 14, 2017, 11:23:12 pm »
Hi,

It's pretty easy to check if an actor is inside region. But what if I want to check if an actor is inside a region which is part of a list? Is that doable?

I think there isn't a straight way but someone may have found a way around it. Any help is appreciated.

Ask a Question / Rotate Around Point - Anti-Clockwise Direction
« on: August 19, 2017, 06:55:22 am »
Hi,

I used Rotate Around Point Actor behavior. When I test it, it rotates in clockwise direction. How do I make it rotate in anti clockwise direction? Tried editing the behavior but the maths behind it confuses me.

Chit-Chat / Bought a used mobile as New - Help needed to confirm
« on: August 06, 2017, 01:30:43 pm »
Hi,

It seems like my dad was sold an used mobile as new. The mobile battery was poor and customer service was much more poor. We just ignored and learned to live with that. But recently my niece installed clash royale in that mobile and he saw a welcome screen as 'Welcome PineGateKeeper 28863'. My Niece doesn't remember creating such a username for Google play leaderboard. I'm sure these aren't his word of choice as he wouldn't even know what they are.

So am I right in assuming that we are sold a used product? If so, how can we strengthen our claim that it was a used product?

Chit-Chat / Frosty Pop's rvlvr Featured in New Games We Love
« on: May 04, 2017, 08:41:02 am »
Hi,

Just wanted to share that Frosty Pop's rvlvr is featured in Apple's 'New Games We Love':

http://www.frostypop.com/#rvlvr

Now that he's a familiar face here, yet he hasn't posted about the game. So I assume he hasn't used Stencyl for this game. But I hope we can still wish him best for another of his feature.

P.S: From the description, it appears as if it's just an update. However, the game is featured in New games. Not sure what is right. Anyhow, congrats for another feature.

Journals / The Racks - An Isometric Attempt
« on: April 28, 2017, 02:36:40 pm »
Hey there!!

Developers like Merrek does mind blowing Isometric works in Stencyl. I may not be able to create such magic now. But this is just my attempt in going Isometric.

The Racks

It's an isometric runner. There are three racks. You can smash them and jump between them (For computer: Up & Down arrow. Planned 'Swipe' control for Mobile).

1 >> I'm pretty much done with smashing and jumping. However, the feel of hero running 'on' the rack isn't satisfactory. It's as if he is floating in air. I'm considering adding shadow effect (Which could complicate a lot considering the mechanism).

2 >> I need to control the jumping speed. It's a bit slower. I'm using the built-in push block. I use the force 65. If I increase it, hero goes far high and returns. I don't want that but hero to just jump quickly. I tried the physics extension by merrek but I can't run it.

Once done with that, most other works are pretty simpler. Need to introduce enemies, spikes, powerups, coins & upgrades. Will shoot it ASAP. If this works out well, I might need Stencylers support for kickstarter. Short of subscription fee.

Please let me know of any feedback regarding the basic mechanism:

=====
Update as of April 30, 2017:
Introduced enemy. Dodge and survive. When enemy is hit, the hero actor is killed. Press Enter to restart. Hopefully the collisions are appropriate for Isomerism.
=====
Update as of May 1, 2017:
Replaced Hero cube with a dog.

Chit-Chat / Forum Mod: WYSIWYG Editor
« on: March 14, 2017, 03:13:04 pm »
Hi,

I was wondering if WYSIWYG Editor for SMF would be added to this forum. It would really help maintaining threads like List Of Apple Featured Mobile Games easier.

I can't visit this SMF thread now. But it could hold the answer:

Chit-Chat / Apple Feature & No. Leaderboard players
« on: March 10, 2017, 09:38:55 am »
Not sure if the question is vague. One of the game I saw that is featured has around 5000 leaderboard players. I was just wondering if the game isn't doing good even after being featured. Is that possible?

I'm talking about Superloop. It's also released by a 'somewhat-popular' publisher 'Umbrella Games'.

Ask a Question / Different sized tiles? [Solved]
« on: March 06, 2017, 05:08:21 am »
Is it possible to create different sized tiles for a game? All I can see is create 32x32 tiles alone. What if I prefer a tile to be rectangle and I don't want to use multiple tiles together to get the 'rectangle' effect. Is it not possible at all? Should I stick with actors only in such cases?

Chit-Chat / Unable To Answer a 4th Grade Student [Complete-Off topic]
« on: October 11, 2016, 04:07:37 am »
Hi Guys,

So my parents & siblings believe[citation needed] that I'm good at Maths. They were struggling to answer a maths question by my 4th Grade nephew and intentionally made him ask me his question.

Well, he sort of had two questions.

First Question: "1" is singular. So what about all the numbers that are less than one (He meant fraction) like 0.5 for example. Are they singular as well?

My Answer: I have never thought this question. I've done all my degree and working and till date, I didn't want to think this way. Thankfully, Google threw me an answer and I told him that as if I said it myself: Fractions are Plural

Second Question: If "0.5" is already plural, "1" is nothing but two "0.5". How is that singular?

My Answer: ::) :-\ :-[ :-X (Not even sure what keyword I should use in Google)

Just felt it was funny and wanted to share. But if anyone could really give a meaningful answer , I would be be so happy.  :D

Chit-Chat / Why No Tag For Level 4 Stencyler? Stencyl Hierarchy Doubt
« on: September 28, 2016, 10:12:55 pm »
Hi there,

I've had this question in my mind for quite sometimes. I see that there are many Level 4 Stencyler (according to the profile). But it doesn't show any tag beneath their names in posts. (Not even Studio).

I wish to know Stencyl profile Hierarchy. There are Stencyl Masters, Stencyl Experts and this "Level 4 Stencyler". I'm not sure whether this follows a hierarchy and if it does, in which order?

Just curious to know.

Journals / Double The Bubble - Redo
« on: August 24, 2016, 10:20:02 am »
Hi guys,

This is almost the first complete game I did using Stencyl. But due to a few reviews that were "not so great", I dropped the idea. After a long time, I felt that I gave up on the game too soon and the first few people who saw this game was not at all the targeted audience. So wanted to present the game to the right people to know what you have to say.

The objective is to shoot on a ball and it would split into two balls. Keep shooting balls and more balls are created. The maximum balls you create becomes your score. The death comes if any of these happen:

  • A ball hits you
  • All balls leave the screen (And then you can't shoot any more balls)
  • The bullets run out of count.

<a href="https://www.youtube.com/v/EfUei3pNl5c" target="_blank" class="new_win">https://www.youtube.com/v/EfUei3pNl5c</a>

The biggest turnoff factor is the graphics but it's temporary though. I'm imagining a pixel art style and planning to hire. But I'm not completely sure whether it's worth investing in this idea.

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

P.S: If anyone interested, playable beta would be approved by tomorrow. Please reach out.
