Ask a Question / Android "Sending to Device" Fix.

I've found that this helps fix the android problem where it sends to device but nothing happens.

From Stencyl, go to Tools -> Android -> Launch Device Monitor

From Android Device Monitor, go to Window -> Android SDK Manager

From Android SDK Manager go to the bottom and select "New". Then select "Install Packages."

Close Stencyl and Android Device Monitor while the SDK Manager is doing its thing. It may take a long while. After it's done, reload Stencyl. This did the trick for me, hope it helps anybody else. I've found that it also helps to clean the project (Tools->Game->Clean Project).

I keep getting this message after trying to test to CPPIA for the first time...something to do with installing visual basic I think.

Anyway, now I can't do anything with Stencyl. I can't save, test, export, or publish. Virtually paralyzed.

Does anybody have a few pointers for me? I guess I could reinstall Stencyl, but will I lose my game file if I do that? I can't export it as it is, so I'm afraid.

I have given my boss separate collision shapes and assigned different groups to them. I want to make a different reaction for when the player collides with each collision shape. If player hits the boss' weapon, he is hurt. If he hits the boss body, he will do something else.

Which block allows me to define reaction depending on the collision shape hit?

I've been looking at the stencyl tutorial but I can't seem to figure this out...

I'd like to create an image of my actor that trails behind him as he moves and quickly fades away...I guess you could call it a really cool shadow effect? Any idea how this may be done?

I tried publishing my game to HTML5 and Stencyl produced a folder with a bunch of files, but I don't know what to do with them. Any tips on how I can use these to play the game? Thanks!

A game that used to test without issue on my android device is no longer testing. Either nothing happens after "sending to device" completes, or it gets stuck at "sending to device".

I tried creating a blank game to see if that would test on android, and it worked well.  Not sure what the problem is with the other game...

Testing on my android seems to produce an older version of my game. For a few hours now, Stencyl hasn't been recognizing anything new I've added...after it's done "sending to device", it just produces the game as it was many hours ago...but I've added new code, new features, and none of them are showing.

To verify this, I've disabled a bunch of very important code and tested to see if Stencyl would recognize it, and it does not. Very weird! Any ideas on what's going on? Many thanks in advance.

[EDIT]: I'm not sure what fixed it, but a day or two afterward it suddenly started working again. I didn't do anything other than uninstall the game from my device and wait 1-2 days (even though that didn't work right away).

Ask a Question / [Resolved] Stencyl file suddenly doubled in size.

So I took a look at my stencyl file today and it is 106 MB. Just a few days ago, it was half that size. I added only 2 new images to the game recently. One image is for a background and the other is for an actor. I'm not sure how the file got so large so quickly.

Now that I look through the games folder, I also see a bunch of actor images that I've deleted from stencyl which are still in the games folder. Should I manually delete these to conserve space?

[EDIT]: It turns out that I had put in many more images of my background than I thought. And each one was 4 MB. Thanks all.

I would like to stop screen shake from affecting an actor that is merely meant for displaying lives. Right now, it's just a heart that I drew. But it shakes a lot and feels weird. Any tips for not allowing it to shake while screen shake occurs?

Ask a Question / [SOLVED] Detecting collision between actors.

I'd like to detect collision between two actors and I've created a boolean to do that. But it's not working very well, as the boolean is not setting to "true" upon collision.  Any idea where I'm messing up?
