Windows / Mac / Flash / HTML5 / Donut Cannon- Four years after starting
« on: October 30, 2018, 09:51:24 am »
I've started a lot of projects over the years that I never finished even though I liked a lot of them. I finally decided to go back and finish up a game I started almost 4 years ago. After a few weeks of polishing, it is ready for release!  It's a puzzle platformer about a donut that is also a cannon.

Chit-Chat / Uploading On Kongregate
« on: August 31, 2018, 08:47:30 pm »
Has anyone else tried uploading a game on Kongregate in the past day? I've been trying to upload a flash game but I keep on getting a timeout on the second step? I've never had this happen before so I was wondering if anyone else is having problems.

Ask a Question / Best Format for Browser Games
« on: August 16, 2018, 11:38:30 am »
It's been a while since I've used Stencyl, but I was thinking about coming back for a while. I was wondering though, what is the best format for browser based games now? Is flash still fine or is the html5 at a point where it is the better export option?

Journals / World of My Own LD 38
« on: April 30, 2017, 07:48:07 pm »
Had a really fun ludum dare this year. There is a lot I want to do to expand the game I made.  Right now it is just a procedural dungeon shooter but I would like to add more elements to make it sort of an adventure rogue like.

The entry: https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/38/world-of-my-own

This is the first game in a while that I've been really excited to work on!

I managed to get music and sound effects done within the time limit which is a first for me!

Chit-Chat / Contact Us- No Reply
« on: September 20, 2015, 09:27:55 am »
So i just wanted to ask if anyone else has had this problem. I bought the humble bundle that included stencyl indie two months ago and since I had previously purchased stencyl studio a year before I had to use the contact us form to redeem it. I did not get a reply within the week but this was expected since they must have been dealing with redeeming the license for many people.  After a month and still no reply I decided to send another contact. Now it has been another month since then and since i haven't seen several people inquiring about this on the forums I assume that it might just be a problem with me? So I decided to post here to see if anyone else has experienced the same thing or get some kind of information.

Although maybe they are still working through all the emails and I'm just impatient. Thoughts?

Ludum Dare 33 / Trick or Feast
« on: August 24, 2015, 06:51:00 pm »
This year I decided to do the Jam instead of the competition. I was originally going to do the competition on my own, but two friends also wanted to do ludum dare, so I decided work on a game together with them. One of them did art, this was her first ludum dare and the other has a background in programming, but this was his first time using stencyl so I programmed along with him. I was left to do music, which I don't think turned out too bad considering it is the area I am worst in.

The game is rather simple considering this was a first for both of them, but I think it turned out well and we had fun!

Basically you play as a monster and eat kids on Halloween, have fun!

Arrow Keys- Move
P- Pause
Q-Quit

Once a year, children and monsters alike go out into the night. This night is All Hallows' Eve. Kids eat candy. Monsters eat kids. You are the monster.

Ludum Dare 32 / The Marshmallow with a Huge Friggin Gun
« on: April 19, 2015, 06:48:41 pm »
I finally fixed up my game well enough for it to be considered finished.  I didn't quite enjoy the theme but I think I found a way to get it to work. Instead of a purely unconventional weapon, I made a scenario where typically conventional weapons would be considered unconventional.

Overall I like what it turned out to be, for my second ludum dare attempt, though it's missing many things I had wanted to include. I lost a lot of working time on Saturday so I can't complain too much. The biggest issue is that I once again did not have time for music. But oh well, enjoy!

WASD or Arrow Keys to move.
Use mouse to shoot.
1 2 and 3 change weapon.

Windows / Mac / Flash / HTML5 / Spookyland
« on: October 31, 2014, 05:28:34 am »
I made this as a small project for Halloween, there was going to be more to it and I was going to release it earlier than the day of Halloween, but personal things like my mother getting married got in the way.

It is a small idle game. I wanted to make something with a gramophone and I thought it could be interesting to have a different mechanic in an idle game just so it isn't always just about clicking, so now you get to crank a gramophone. I still like how it turned out despite not being my original plan, I had to make it fit in before Halloween, and I hope you will all enjoy it!

I just spent 14 hours finishing it, I forgot to sleep because of this.

Ask a Question / Best Way to Handle Flash and Mobile
« on: April 11, 2014, 11:46:19 pm »
After I get paid for my sponsorship for "Hidden Valley Ninja", I am planning on buying a studio subscription so I can start publishing mobile games. I have been reading up on mobile games, but I am still left with the question of the best way to create a game when you plan to publish to flash and mobile.

Should I be preparing from the start by uploading images at x4 scale and building the versions all together? Or would it be better to just make the flash version and then modify it for the mobile versions?

How do all of you typically handle this (or think would be the best way to handle this)?

I do not know how many of you read the FGL blog, but they have put up the new 2014 Flash Game Markets Survey. I decided to make a topic so that those who might have missed it otherwise can fill out the survey if desired.

Windows / Mac / Flash / HTML5 / Ninja Battle Idle
« on: January 14, 2014, 06:44:23 pm »
As a small project, while I am waiting for sponsorship bids for "Hidden Valley Ninja", I decided I wanted to make an idle game, because I had always enjoyed those, and always wanted to make one. It is based off of hidden valley, so I guess you could say it is like the idle version. I hope yall enjoy it!

Windows / Mac / Flash / HTML5 / Hidden Valley Ninja [RELEASED]
« on: December 05, 2013, 08:33:05 am »
New Edit:

I have finally been able to release  my game "Hidden Valley Ninja" after searching for a sponsorship for 5 months! Needless to say I am glad to finally have this out of the way so I can focus on future projects!

Original Post:

I recently posted my game Hidden Valley Ninja for feedback by developers. If you have one approved game on fgl, you can play the game by following this link: https://www.fgl.com/view_game.php?from=dev&game_id=31194

It is an action-adventure platformer with rpg elements. You travel across the land, defeating bosses and collecting new weapons. There are many enemies to fight and also difficult terrain that will test the player's skill. It has many optional mechanics, such as crafting and extra skills. Right now I have to finish making music ans sounds, however I am hoping for feedback on how to improve the beginning and intro and making the game easier to get into. All feedback is appreciated.

It has 5 different areas which feature unique enemies and mechanics. There are many secrets to find and equipment to acquire.

Here are some screenshots.

Game Art / Post Whatever You Are Working On
« on: September 21, 2013, 06:44:23 am »
I assume that everyone here must be working on something at the moment, so why not share? You may get feedback, maybe you won't but I will try to at least point out something helpful in whatever is posted here. It doesn't matter if you draw, do pixel or vector, or are making a game, just post whatever you are working on.

I am going to start with some screenshots of a game I am working on. I am almost done with it and plan to have in finished over the next two weeks.

These are all parallax backgrounds.

This shows the mushroom area, the  little mushrooms have since been darkened and more saturated so that they are easier to differentiate from the background. Clouds disappear when touched.

This is the skill tree tab of the menu.

One of the newest areas, I still have to find some more interesting mechanics for some of the areas.

The final area, it takes place in the shadow world and for reasons, the characters colors are inverted.

Map can be toggled to transparent, full, or off. One of my concerns right now is the hud, that has been one of my weak points, and I feel that it needs to be changed. Hopefully I will have time and will be able to come up with something good.

That is all from me for now, I may post later today depending on what I get done. I encourage everyone else to go ahead and post whatever they are working on!

(I posted this on Kong but decided to bring it over here to, why not?)
