Game Ideas / Tim And The Ants (Working Title)
« on: September 04, 2013, 01:08:19 pm »
I kinda stayed away from the forums a bit cuz i dunno know, so i guess im back now :D

The little boy tim and his little fox owns a small caravan.
Tim dreams under the tree about a place where everything is tiny and insects are the same size as humans.
And one day he wakes up and finds himself as tiny as the little ants he dreams about!
When he finds a small village, the frightening villagers tell him about a creature that has cursed them with evil.

Its now up to you to save the little village, and find out how you got there in the first place!!
And of course find your damn fox

I thought the combat would be something like Pokemon, Earthbound etc. And that you walk around in a 2D while moving like something from Castle Crashers
I want to put some humor and stuff to it, but also in beauty and peacefullnes, completely unvoiced and dialouges like old Sega games, i have a great vision about this game and this was one of the first ideas that came up in my head when i started to think about game development.
The whole concept is about something i actually always dreamed about, of course i did not have a fox or caravan, but it adds something to it that the boy is an orphan

The design and stuff like that is up to my partner Sixtis, and well have a chat about it.
This is definetly one of the ideas that i actually want to develop into a real game :D
alright more about this little idea later.
Feedback is always appreciated, and i want to know what u guys think :D

Sounds good, the beacons sounds great too, but what if you had a potion of some sort that you would drink to get the "health" back? or not, i mean something on the go, so that you wouldnt have to run to another beacon. or maybe thats part of the challenge.

the thing about enemies that pushes players around is interesting, but how will they "push"? that would have to be some weird looking, (and working...) enemies...

alright thats all i got, but it sounds great!

Some stuff about the cat
I dont know if im being petty now but the scarf the little cat wears should be red, i think it would work better, compare it and see. Since i believe there are certain combinations that work brilliant together, while some do not
Or even themed scarfs for different worlds, like snow and forest and stuff, which could be good if you put effort in to it :)
Ears should be bigger, looks so damn tiny

The shading is great, but try different shading "styles", im sure trying it different ways will improve your skills.
By the way you put in a lot of sparkle and time in to your work, i love the "way" you make animations/sprite "stuff-iluff" its great.
Keep up the good work!

Two thing that would be nice in rpg:s, if u ever played skyrim you know that your health restores over time that passes while you run around an kill stuff, and some kind of potion-like thing would be great too.

And by the way you do some great stuff man!!

Hello! and please sorry my english!!

I dont know if this is a complete original ideia, but is a concept that I was unable to complete. Personal time problems and so on.

You can use it for free! Just let me know! :)

Basic Demo: ((Buttons "A", "D", R for restart) --> http://www.stencyl.com/game/play/19355

It’s a Runner with 2 independent (and simultaneous) Characters on the screen: a Clown and the Unicycle.

The player has control over the two.

Works like this:

The Clown has 2 jumps (simple and double)
The Unicycle has 1 jump only (simple).

This Mechanic allows some cool level design.

The player needs to take care of 2 guys at the same time, and avoid obstacles and collect balloons.

The iPhone version works GREAT.

The Control layout for phones is:  Touch the left side of the screen to jump with the Unicycle. The Right side works for the Clown. No Buttons!

Basic Demo: ((Buttons "A", "D", R for restart) --> http://www.stencyl.com/game/play/19355

The basic-demo has no death.

obs: graphics of the demo made by Alexander Olsen.

Sorry to hear that, i looked forward to that game :(
It was a great idea :) and the whole thing was cool!

Hope you get some new stuff up soon ;)

Sector and Level Select Screens - there are 101 known levels and maybe some extra too. Below are a few screenshots of the animated level select screens. As you battle your way through the game you will visit many different places on Earth... AN BEYOND!

Boss 101 Main Site
Boss 101 Tumblr

Sector 1 selection screen

Sector 4 selection screen

Sector 8 selection screen

Looks cool, maybe you should try something like Mnrart did, to control an actor on the selection, like move left and rigth with arrow keys

Just a suggestion

Chit-Chat / Chit-Chat: Different Contests?
« on: July 20, 2013, 04:09:11 pm »
Maybe the subject was a little unclear, but wouldnt a competition/contest be nice? I mean, sometimes the forums seem a bit dead.

I was thinking of something like a monthly/weekly competition where the would be a challenge like: De-Make a short playstation game or make a sprite inspired by anger. And if you win your submission(s) gets featured or something, with a basic set of rules and an admin/Jon to arrange it, (i could help to arrange) it would be fun to chit-chat a little bit on a mega-thread just for fun. Darnit, i wish i joined stencyl earlier ;)

So what do you think? Leave your thougths below.

Game Ideas / Re: Some ideas for a new game...
« on: July 17, 2013, 04:19:23 pm »
The run on sentences... Have mercy...

It's not horrible, but really, the better the punctuation the better the explanation.

Aside from the generic name, I like Timmy's story; that kind of imaginative spirit with the innocence that comes with still being a child. It's relatable, and underdogs are fun. One thing I noticed though: his biography says he's armed with only a bucket and magical cloak, but his strengths list a sword. Is it something he finds later?

Ernie's description confused me a bit, which actually made it seem pretty funny in my head. You say that Ernie was a kid at some point so I honestly thought while reading through it that he was part of a human-bird race and the soup must have been a giant vat. Made more sense when I realized he was a literal bird. Neat that he has his own language, you have a Han/Chewie thing going there, but I don't get the spitting up lava part. Is it because he fell in soup?

Reinhard I like, not just as a means of mixing up the difference in how the characters play, but he has an original role. If his job is to carry a big book around the world he must be big and slow. Clumsy and thief are an odd mix, but it can be funny. Makes you wonder if the Lord was just trying to get rid of him :P

Not a whole lot to say for Mc Ruff, sounds like a straight-forward character. If I'm being honest I have to say his back story is painfully overplayed.
"My parents were just killed. Guess I might as well grow up and fight evil"
It lacks the kind of originality you put into the other characters.

It's a good start, I hope I was helpful.

I changed the things that was a bit odd, like the soup and sword thing, and bird launguage was removed, and i changed mc ruffs story and so, next to all the things you said was changed.

I wrote this in about 30 mins and the thing is: when i write stuff i make them fast, and edit them after, so thats why the whole thing just been a mess, thanks a lot for your feedback :)
