Ask a Question / Re: Stop spawning after time

this is the exact issue i am having  i have my system set up almost the same way. is their a way to set a specific amount of enemies  instead of having them spawn over time. lets say i just want to spawn 5 of this enemy. and 10 of another type.

Ask a Question / Re: stencyl vs other engines like Game Maker

from my experience stencyl is far superior then game maker in terms of simplicity and intuitive design. i used game maker just prior to stencyl and it was good at first but then they kept releasing new builds that were not stable and crashed frequently.the new 3.0 is much better then 2.2 and i notice the difference immediately.their are some bugs now that were not present in 2.2 but its not a problem. the forums here are much better. and i have never looked back since.

hey tuo i  checked your code i haven not tried it yet but i cant tell its what i need . i have a question are the 3 atttributes speed angle and turn number attributes.

ok great i figured the coordinates, out and i have one enemy type that i can send on a specific path using the coordinates. although the enemy moves to one coordinate then stops a second and moves to another. which is fine. i can make use of that with a few enemies that i have designed. so now im trying to figure out how to make a  enemy move in a fluid motion without the stops  from one node/coordinate to the next. thanks a bunch fellas.

hey im making a space shooter and making great progress. i need some help though. i want enemies to move in a specific pattern or formation while on screen. as it stands now i can make enemies spawn randomly, which is fine for asteroids, since they dont have any ai but for other enemies, i need them to perform different patterns. i have a behavior block called follow path and it is asking me for the coordinates how do you go about doing that.

ok so basically you are saying that i should not put the collision on the player bullets but onto the actors themselves. as it stands now i have collisions set to the bullets and the should i make the actors with collisions and the bullets just kill/recyce themselves after collisions

Ask a Question / how to make collisions respond properly
« on: March 16, 2013, 08:49:55 pm »
hey guys im working on my first game. its a space shooter. i am having a problem with the collisions

when my spaceship fires bullets sometimes it takes one bullet to kill the asteroid actor. and sometimes it takes 3-5 shots. i want to be able to define how many bullets a actor should take before it is killed. i dont fully understand the actionscript block coding but im getting better at it. is there a actionscript database that list when where and why certain blocks should be used. what i mean is i need to know the proper structure or rules of do's and donts when using specific events. thanks
