Great points are made about the marketing aspects of this issue, but you might want to consider the legal/liability stuff also.

I'm not sure how often stuff like this happens, but we live in a litigious society and distributing your games under an LLC would give you a layer of protection against lawsuits versus distributing under your own name.

I'm not a lawyer, so take what I say with a grain of salt and maybe do some further research on the topic on your own if interested.

This is great, how often are these done?  I'm still learning the ropes and I don't think I'll be able to get anything completed in time for the deadline, but I'm looking forward to the next one.

I've been playing the heck out of Might & Magic: Clash of Heroes.  It's a super-fun RPG where the turn-based battles take place in the form of a puzzle game.  Best of all it's currently free on XBLA for gold members until 10/15.

Ask a Question / Re: Stencyl Book available now!
« on: October 09, 2013, 06:34:07 am »
Greetings,

This book has been an enormous help to me while I learn the language of Stencyl, so to speak.  There are many tutorials out there, but it is nice to have an all-in-one source for people like me to refer to.

I have a career that is very demanding of my time and no prior programming experience.  Game design is a hobby that I have wanted to get into for years, and now with tools like Stencyl and this book I can finally do it.

Thank you for doing this!

It isn't the sexiest thing that has ever hit gaming, but it is mine:0

And that's the important thing - congrats!

Hi Folks,

My name is Nathan, I'm a 31 year old guy working in Real Estate.  I have zero programming experience, but I've always loved games, starting with playing NES and Atari games at a friend's house when I was young.  About four years ago I had a job which was incredibly easy and left me with a lot of free time, so I often passed the day with Kongregate to quell my boredom.  This was my introduction to indie games, and it is what got me interested in the possibility of making my own game someday.  While I don't have an easy job with endless free time anymore, I'm looking forward to finally getting started on this hobby that I've always been interested in.
