Ask a Question / Trying to create level pass variable

Hello community! I'm trying to give my game a pass level score, and have that trigger when two characters collide. The code below is what I have so far, but the level will not sense the score increase, and so does not show the "passed" state. Any and all help would be appreciated :)

Hello all. I am trying to play a sound once after a level is passed but it seems to keep repeating. I've tried with a Boolean which did not work (as you can see below). I know that the sound works on its own but its when I put it in the extra code that it doesn't. Thanks for any and all help!

Hello again community! My work is well underway and my game is almost 1/2 of the way finished! Another problem though. If I want stencyl to register collisions once, what should I do? For example when two actors of a group collide I want them to increase a score, when that score reaches a certain amount the level passed event triggers. What is currently happening (with the code below) is that once one group makes a collision, it is registering as multiple collisions and the event level done happens even though the player hasn't really made the score requirements.  Thanks ahead for any and all help!

Hello community! :) I'm currently trying to switch an animation for any actor within a group when one of my levels is done. Below in the photo is what I'm currently trying to do, but it doesn't work (animation does not switch). I've also tried triggering an event which I then put in the actors of the group and that doesn't work either. In the code you can see where I've tried to do this with the "for each actor of group switch animation to red for actor of group". Any and all help is greatly appreciated!

Hello. I'm trying to switch an attribute to true for two actors which collide (change animations), but currently only one actor changes animations and the other doesn't receive the Boolean change. Any and all help would be greatly appreciated.

Hello all! I'm hard at work on a game that I might release soon :) But one could I switch animations for all actors in a scene? I want to switch all actors to a certain animations when a victory is earned, but I don't want to switch them one by one because I have at least 12+ on each scene at one time. I tried some stuff with lists which did nothing. Hep would be greatly, greatly appreciated!!! Thanks!!!  :)

Hello all! The title may sound odd, but what I'm looking for is to basically play a sound when two actors collide. However, both of these actors have the same exact behavior (because this is a puzzle game and they are almost exactly similar) and so if I put this event in the same behavior they both play the sound causing a noticeable oddity. I would have different behaviors for both of these actors but if I do that it will technically mess my game up.  Thanks to all!

Hello. I've come up with a really easy/quick system for playing random sounds that works perfectly with the way my current game is set up. I've used this same thing before and it's worked perfectly, but here it seems to not work. Any ideas?

Hi all! I'm fairly new to Stencyl and I'm trying to make this feature work in a simple game I'm making. What I'm trying to do is make it so that when two squares are aligned in my game they trigger an event (I.E. winning the level). So far, I've just been able to do this in the actual scene and not in any advanced code. It would help to have this code line somehow in an actor or scene beahvior so that I wouldn't have to implement the code for every level over and over.

As you can see, I'm trying to make it so that if the spaces in each square line up, an event triggers. It should only trigger if 1. the squares are right beside each other (in the 32x32grid) and 2. if they are each in the correct animation (with the spaces aligning).

Hello all! My goal in my current project is to get an actor to sense another actor is next to it. To be specific I am using 32x32 boxes which need to know when another box is to the right, up, down, or left of itself. It needs to store the actor type it is next to and also the animation in which that actor is in. I don’t know how to even start with something like this since I am fairly new to stencyl (I know how to do basic functions like actor movement, firing, and similar beginner stuff). Any and all help would be so appreciated as I am currently stuck.

Hey everyone! Working is going swell on my first game but I ran into a bit of a problem. I have created a way to spawn an actor directly on top of another. My game uses actors by having the player click on them and then they switch animations based on clicks. The problem I’ve run into is the fact that when I create clone son top of the actors, the click that initiated the clone also clicks the actor that spawns in. I’m using “if clicked on self” to intitiate the cloning but it seems that is also applying to the newly created actor that replaces the already clicked one. I can send multiple pictures if needed. Any and all help would be greatly appreciated :)

Hello all! I’m very inexperienced with stencil (as you’ll notice soon) and wondered something. How would I go about making an actor switch to an animation based on what was pressed before it has been pressed? For example I have actor 1. I want actor 1 to switch to an animation based on if it has pressed actor 2 or actor 3 (and so on). There would be a different animation based on the actor that was pressed before actor 1 was pressed. Then after actor one switches animations I would want that to end so that anything done after the switch is a new command (so that he could switch to yet another animation and this could theoretically go forever). Any and all help is greatly appreciated. If there is a video tutorial you could point me to dealing with something similar that’d also be greatly appreciated. I know this has something to do with lists and game attributes but I can’t make the connection.

Okay guys! Having difficulty with a semi advanced topic and can't get any related posts. What I am trying to do within my game is have my player able to destruct dirt tiles upon hitting them TWICE. I also need to play animation the first time the player hits the block to let the player know that block can be destructed upon hitting it again. I've set up some really basic Booleans which I thought would execute this doesn't.

Any help?

Hello. As you can probably notice I'm fairly new to stencyl, and to the forums. In fact upon figuring out one problem I'm back again to post something else.

I am creating a 2D platformer, however most of the programming needs to be done with the platforms my player is jumping on. These codes range from moving blocks to my current one, glue blocks which slow the players speed. The only problem I'm having is the fact that my player seems to stop at the actors which are placed almost like regular 2D tiles. It is very frustrating and I've done everything from tweak collisions to tweaking the players multiple physics settings. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I need some huge help guys. I don't know if this is a hard or complicated questions but I haven't seen any help anywhere.  So here's my background: I have no experience working with stencyl and am creating my first game with it. Now I'm using Inkscape to create vector graphics for my first game. These graphics are Farley simple squares and shapes of that matter. I'm trying to put these shapes in as actors but when I import the "animations" my squares (which are saved from Inkscape as 32x32 documents of basically 1 square) the actors are coming up as this huge yellow area when actually the art is only a 32x32 square.

Basically I'm having immense trouble importing actors from Inkscape into my game. I notice other people's imports are nice and neat as in stencyl recognized the smallness or dimensions of the actor immediately. Is this something I'm doing or simply a bug or something?

I'm relying solely on this thread as every where else has been dead ends. Thank you for any and all responses!
