First Mibibli's Quest was involved in a humble bundle, now it's on Steam Greenlight, hooray! Votes and spreading the word would  both be very appreciated!! :) Here's the link: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=551444889

There's also a new trailer to go along with it:

Ludum Dare 30 / Visiting the Mushrooms
« on: August 24, 2014, 07:03:05 am »
I made a trippy exploration game where you visit places that are mixed and matched together to form different worlds. I'm super happy with how it turned out, hope you guys enjoy it too! Check out the page for screenshots and stuff.

I posted about the game in the low rez jam thread but I think it is way past the point of deserving its own thread here. The game is a roguelikelike with randomly generated levels. Explore and power up, if you die then jump right back in because the random generation will keep things fresh.

I'm VERY VERY happy with how the game has turned out. From a developer perspective it was really great and fun because I was able to make something pretty huge and fairly deep without a huge ton of time spent. I DID spend a lot of time on the game but each piece went by so quickly that the resulting game is pretty damn substantial I feel. I worry that the game isn't going to get the attention I feel it deserves because the 32x32 thing is going to hold people back from seeing what I see in the game, but even if no one played it ever then the development would have been worth it purely from a learning standpoint so I guess I should just be okay with whatever happens.

Anyway, here's the game: http://gamejolt.com/games/arcade/temple-of-the-faceless-minotaur-who-sees-the-burning-light/27167/

Windows / Mac / Flash / HTML5 / Mibibli's Quest
« on: April 30, 2014, 09:38:53 pm »
After over 2.5 years of work, I was able to finish this game! Mibibli's Quest! It's a combination of the very strange mixed with very classic retro-ness. I think it's good and other people tell me they really like it, so check it out! It has lots of stuff in it and if you're a fan of the strange or surreal then you might like this game, as well as if you're a fan of difficult retro platformers. If you're a fan of both, then... hooray!

You can find the game at the above link, it's pay what you want, which means you can download it completely for free if you want.

Here's a stylish trailer:
<a href="http://www.youtube.com/v/LM9VgAL5npM?hl=en_US&amp;amp;version=3" target="_blank" class="new_win">http://www.youtube.com/v/LM9VgAL5npM?hl=en_US&amp;amp;version=3</a>
(or you can just check out the same trailer embedded on the above itch.io link)

Also (assuming you're not reading this too far into the future) this game currently has a banner at the top of these forums, so that's cool, and maybe it's a sign that you should play this game! :D

The game has some swears and minor pixel nudity so beware of that I suppose.

Fixed Bugs (3.x) / Bug with tinting in .exe
« on: January 27, 2014, 06:42:55 pm »
If you tint an actor and then remove the effect, in windows/.exe mode, then it will draw the first frame of the actor overtop of itself, in addition to the normal animation as it should be that appears underneath.

I attached a tiny game that's basically just one actor that does just that and nothing else, to show off the bug.

Shared Resources / 3D first person

Made a little demo thingy in a few hours (surprised I didn't get stuck and confused for much longer). THREE DIMENSIONS WHOO

use arrow keys to move around

This could be a lot of fun to expand into a game. I uploaded this demo onto forge as "3Dgame". It's made in 3.0 though so if you don't have that I guess you won't find it, sorry. It's pretty simple and not convoluted (yet) but it might not be super easy to understand because I was just making it for myself as opposed to making a kit or anything. But it's there if anyone's curious.

Windows / Mac / Flash / HTML5 / Mond Cards
« on: October 21, 2013, 05:23:42 am »
Released this game a few weeks ago. Figured I might as well post it here.

http://gamesforweirdpeople.com/mondcards/
Has some questionable sexualish content (nothing too visually explicit) so if you are easily offended don't play it.

It got a super positive article on indiestatik and also on indiegames.com, and it got mentioned on a few other sites too which is great.  Really happy about that. :)

Game Art / NobodyX's Music
« on: March 12, 2013, 10:17:15 pm »
Feel like I might want to start posting some of my music on the forums here. I write a lot of music which usually sits around serving no purpose, so might at well share it instead. Most of my music is just me practicing and exercising skills or creativity.

First up is me attempting to get a decent 2 minute improv guitar solo in a take, while having it still listenable and appealing and not too obtuse. (I tend to go overly weird probably when I play)

Windows / Mac / Flash / HTML5 / Trailer: Mibibli's Quest
« on: February 01, 2013, 03:01:02 am »
I've been working on this game forever, I'm hoping to finish it soon though.

For a bit of fun, I made a trailer, hope you guys like it!! The game is massive, the video only shows a fraction of all of what's in it. I'm really excited about it, I think some people will really love it when it's released. :)

OK, I updated stencyl like this: I copied out my game out of the games folder as backup, uninstalled stencyl, then installed the new version.

When I went I opened the new stencyl, my game was still in the list when you open the program but was no longer in the games folder on my computer, so I was confused and went to try the game, everything seemed intact but when I went to test the game it just flat out wouldn't load anything. No flash console or anything would pop up and no errors appeared.

So I decided to remove the game from the list when you first open the program and re-add it somehow. I removed it from the list, and now have no clue how to re-add it because adding a folder in the stencyl games directory seems to do absolutely nothing whatsoever in this version.

So basically, I updated stencyl and the game I've been working on for over a year stopped working and now I don't even know how to open it. I have a backup of folder that was in the games folder before(which I hope to god is the most recent version and not something ancient without me realising it)

I'm completely f***ing clueless about what to do and it's really important I get help on this.

A quickly-created garbage game. It is a bit fun, though.

Ask a Question / panning
« on: October 21, 2011, 06:10:38 pm »
What code would I use to pan the sound of the entire game, in other words to silence either the left or right speaker?

Game Ideas / Collab RPG
« on: September 12, 2011, 05:53:15 am »
So I've had this idea in my head for a while. I don't know that it's any good, but I'll just stick it here and see what happens.

What if we made an RPG together? Whoever wants to can contribute graphics, music, writing, whatever. If you can read this, you're invited to contribute. We would design the areas and story as we go along. No one would know what the finished game would be like, until it's finished.

Suppose someone has an enemy idea, if she or he can provide the graphics and whatever else is needed then it gets stuck in the game somewhere just as long as it meets a minimum quality standard.

I am thinking SNES style graphics and sounds and music, with a relatively simple graphical style so even people not very practiced in drawing can contribute. And lots of humour. The gameplay would be as fluid, quickly-progressing, and grind-less as possible.

I would be willing to head the thing (create the game systems, put the game together), but only if I know there would be enough other people willing to help.

Thoughts?

Here's a forum: http://snardware.com/rpgforum/index.php
And again, anyone is invited, so go contribute.

Windows / Mac / Flash / HTML5 / RTS
« on: September 06, 2011, 05:45:47 am »
The beginnings of an RTS, put together in a few hours.

So far it has basic movement and fog of war.

Click to tell the army where to go, look around with the arrow keys.

Hopefully it runs smooth?
