Ask a Question / Polygonal Collision not working

Using Stencyl 4.0.2. Trying to use the add polygonal collision shape to actor block, but the collision doesn't work in most sections of the collision and in the one section it does (as seen in the picture) the actor goes into the collision box slightly. Is this an issue on my part, is this an issue with the engine? Thanks.

I keep trying to test a game on android (USB debugging turned on and "USB for" set to transferring files), but I get told to check my logs and post them to the forums. Not sure what's up. Does anyone know what I'm doing wrong? Thanks.

I was trying to export my game when I got an error. I figured it was just an error that could be fixed by getting the latest beta. But when I tried to do that, my computer wouldn't let me open it. I've attached my logs below to help. Thanks.

Ask a Question / Jumping on Enemy Crashes game

For some reason whenever I jump on an enemy my game crashes. I'm unsure as to why and the logs aren't telling me anything. Below I've included my behavior to help solve the problem. I'm running beta 10441 mac (in the process of renewing my Indie license) and should also mention that no collisions between sensors are being triggered.

Chit-Chat / A Stencyl Wishlist

Hey everyone!

With Christmas right around the corner, I decided to make this list of stuff I’d love to see come to Stencyl. I’m putting it under chit chat because most of the stuff here is either a huge feature or an outlandish idea.

Never Going to Happen List:
1. Ability to make 3D games: this would be a super cool feature to have and would probably make Stencyl one of the first non coding engines to support 3D (maybe? Idk).

It’s a Possibility:
1. LAN connections: Right now Stencyl isn’t the best engine for multiplayer oriented games and I think this would be a step towards adding more compatibility.
2. Split screen support/multiple cameras: I think this would be another great feature for creating more multiplayer oriented games.
3. Collaboration Features: I’m pretty sure I remembered reading that the thing that drove the Hollow Knight devs away from using Stencyl was the lack of collaboration features. I think I feature like this could possibly attract more indie groups.

This Would be Really Nice:
1. A less clunky background system: I feel as of right now that using backgrounds can be a nightmare, especially if you have a scene that’s more than one screen tall. I think it would be really helpful to be able to set the starting position of backgrounds.

Are there anythings you’d like to see in Stencyl?

Recently I've been having a bit of a dilemma regarding my games frame rate while running in Mac fullscreen. My issue is that the game will either have vsync disabled and it'll run at 60 FPS with a graphical artifact or it'll have vsync enabled but run extremely choppy (it kind of just chooses whether or not to do it). This has been an issue for me ever since the 4.0 beta and I have had games on previous versions of the engine run in fullscreen at a solid frame rate with no vsync errors. Is there any way to fix this issue or is it being fixed in the next release? Thank you.

When I tried to open up a scene, Stencyl said there was a problem. Not very sure why it happened, I was tampering with files or anything so it's really confusing. I've attached the logs to help fix the issue. Thanks.

One of my favorite things to do in Stencyl when I’m bored is goof around with the Away3D extension and see what I can do with it. Sure many of my experiments do end in untextured purgatory, but it’s always a good time. One of the things I’ve always wanted to do was create a game like Wolfenstein or Doom using it.  And after a few months of on and off toying around I think I might be ok to something. My hope with what I have so far is to one day (that might be a while due to my lack of experience) create an FPS kit for those of all skill levels to be able to use. I’m really excited from what I’ve managed to put together in the past day, but currently do have a few issues:
  • Currently I’m unable to create visible, 2D plane enemies (this should be resolved soon though)
  • Camera can clip in through some sides of the walls (I haven’t quite figured out camera controllers yet, hopefully this won’t take too too long to fix)
  • No mouse camera controls (this isn’t really anyone’s fault, no one excepted that a 3D extension would be made for the engine)
  • I haven’t quite figured out pathfinding (I’m sure with a bit of analysis of the AI extension I’ll figure something out)
  • From my past experiments, I’ve found that I’ll only be able to use hit scan or melee attacks for both enemies and the player (Away 3D doesn’t exactly like converting objects mid game and will leave an extra, static mesh behind)
  • Haven’t figured out how to render sprite sheets using Away3D
This’ll probably be a side project for me and I’ll probably work on it whenever I’m in the mode for some FPS action. I plan to document everything notable in this thread :).

For some reason I am unable to upload my game to the arcade. I checked the game file and it is only 720 something kb. I've included my logs to help solve the issue.

Ask a Question / Animation not switching

I've been working on a game where if your weapon hits a pickup, it changes into what it hits and as such changes its animation. However, while I could get the function of the weapon to switch (pistol to a machine gun), the animation doesn't switch. This is completely baffling to me as I can't think of any reason it wouldn't work. I've attached my code below so you guys can help me out. Thanks.

Journals / Mr Legs (working title), a rag doll platformer

After around 3 months of constant struggle on an ever-changing project, I was getting to feel pretty burned out and stressed. I was bored the other day and looked at the joints extension (more specifically the ragdoll demo) and thought I'd give the ragdoll basic platformer movement. And hey it was pretty fun. I showed it to a couple of friends and they seemed to enjoy it but I'm not really sure if I want to continue to flesh out the game. If you'd be so kind as to give this a looksie and provide feedback it be really nice :).

Arrow keys to move
Z to jump (You can perform a jump on the side of a wall)

I was trying to load an object into stencyl with the Away3D extension. However every time I'd test the game I'd get a similar message to the above. I looked it up and it said to go to Flash settings and specify trusted locations. After I went back and tried to test again, only to get the same error. I even restarted my computer to see if anything would change, but nothing did. Does anyone else know how to fix this? Thanks. I've attached my logs below to help with trouble shooting.
