Bug Issue: Engine Crashing While Importing Assets

I figured it out! I remembered something that changed before it started crashing. I changed my default program to open image files to "Photos" which is a photo viewer that is part of Windows 10. If I change it to something else like "Windows Photo Gallery" it doesn't freeze!

The engine is crashing while I'm just viewing files in the import menu. For example, I'll try to import a frame image for an actor's animation. By simply scrolling the import window down, the import window becomes completely unresponsive. It seems to be tied with certain files being displayed in whatever folder I'm importing from.

Edit: When the attached image is scrolled over in the import window, it becomes unresponsive.

It happens with more than just this image, I've tried re-exporting it and converting. Nothing works.

Could you generate and attach logs?

The engine is the haxe and other code that runs during your game.  Stency itself is the toolset.  (also this page is kinda buggy when changing categories)

I don't see any errors in your logs, and maybe that's because Stencyl freezes before any useful info is printed.  Is this issue exclusive to that one game or does it happen for every project?

Just tried it in another game. Still freezes.

Try reinstalling Stencyl and see if that helps.

I created a folder and placed a few dozen copies of the attached image in there but I didn't get a crash.  I was testing on b9326 but I doubt anything was changed since b9300 that would affect this issue.  Maybe there is something else wrong with the folder the image is in.  How many images are in that folder, and what is the total size of the folder?

I've moved it to several locations, even into it's own folder. I've also disabled Windows Aero and other folder options like image preview, same issue. This is on Windows 10. I've deleted the image and the folder works fine. I just reinstalled again, this time deleting the stencylworks folder after backing up my game. Still freezing.

Maybe I can't reproduce this because I'm on Windows 7, but it's strange that this is the first time reading about this bug since plenty of other devs have Windows 10.

Now even images that I know didn't crash it before, make it freeze. I guess it's something on my computer but I really don't know what it could be. I have no problems in any other programs.

I tried changing the image editing path to a couple of invalid programs that didn't cause a Stencyl crash, so the bug might be specific to that program you were using.

I have Windows 10 now and photos is apparently behind a hidden folder that requires the security tab to even access, so I don't think we need to worry about that.
