Hey, what's the ruling on assets (art/music/sfx) created outside the jam period? I assume the usual jam idea applies that everything is made within the jam period, yes? I can't find it explicitly mentioned anywhere.

OMG @letmethink that's gorgeous, and also looks a lot like the control scheme I've been mulling over, haha! (step + rotate, is my guess?)

Pretty sure I'm down to clown this time around as well… possibly collaborating with a game-making friend on a Jam game. Havent been hanging about site/theme selection lately, but had a blast last time!

Ask a Question / The proper way to update Stencyl on Mac OS X
« on: September 27, 2015, 08:02:19 pm »
Forgive the noobness of the question, I've looked but not had any luck… are there any instructions on the 'proper' method of updating Stencyl releases on OS X? The app comes in the form of a folder (Stencyl-full) containing Stencyl.app itself and a bunch of other folders (see attached). I'm using the weekly dev builds, and am just replacing the entire folder each time. Is this correct? Can I keep around both a public release and a dev build, just in separate folders? Is there a better way of doing this?

Ask a Question / Re: Testing Game on iOS
« on: September 27, 2015, 07:54:25 pm »
Brief update: I'm running a bunch of betas (Public Betas of OS X 10.11.1, iOS 9.1 and Xcode 7.1 Beta), and got as far as successfully building and installing a (non-Stencyl) app on iPhone 6 by following http://bouk.co/blog/sideload-iphone/ (with some help from the comments on https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v5Ene5uPzz8&lc=z12dihkinwqlepnyq04citv4zv2pgppjipo0k). So this part of the process is doable, at least, or should be shortly with the release of these software versions.

I haven't used Stencyl for an iOS app before, and am running into issues/errors compiling similar to those described at http://community.stencyl.com/index.php/topic,44175.msg247036.html#msg247036, so haven't yet had any luck pushing Stencyl app to device.

You need to pay Apple to test on devices but not the simulator, so the simulator is a separate problem.  Post logs.

My understanding is that as of (the recently-released) Xcode 7 you will be able to test on-device with just a (free) Apple ID – no $99  Apple Developer membership required. See https://developer.apple.com/library/prerelease/ios/documentation/DeveloperTools/Conceptual/WhatsNewXcode/Articles/xcode_7_0.html#//apple_ref/doc/uid/TP40015242-DontLinkElementID_4

I'm actually sitting down to put this through its paces this afternoon, will report back.

Pretty fun. Devious once the men start jumping in quickly. Score still didn't work for me, but that's ok, I feel like a winner.

Make that "just" "fixed" the "score bug", then?  ¯\_(ツ)_/¯  Checked just now (without further fixes), score working on Arcade for me, maybe browser-cached Flash file? Thanks for playing, glad you feel victorious!

EDIT: Double post post.

Took me a while (without reading explainer text) to figure out how to kill the… sheep? But once I got it, I enjoyed it – it's like Angry Godzilla Snooker, and nicely challenging! Also laughed aloud the first time I heard the monster charge.

EDIT: missed the key word outta my simile.

Really cute graphics, and the music sets the tone/pace well. Skipped the intro, though I was enjoying the audio. Is the challenge simply in time attack? I basically blitzed through levels 1-5 just holding the right key, wasn't sure if I was meant to avoid some things or do anything different. Also, the 'fossil bar' is great, and could replace the kids eaten/needed text if you were to keep working on it… it's basically the same info, I think? A great effort all round, well done to the team.

Loved the audio and humour in this. I'd call it a roaring (omnomming?) success. LD link broken, though? Try http://ludumdare.com/compo/ludum-dare-33/?action=preview&uid=35620

High marks for humour, and for the fall-apart animation for too big… also, using bits of yourself as a weapon is a trope I've enjoyed ever since since Medievil. Had fun playing a few rounds.

Thanks all for playing! Just fixed the score bug – multiple actors each tracking their own score variable with varying degrees of accuracy…  ;-)

Just had the tiniest of plays, but oh man, full marks for humour, and shooting out that first window… *NICE*
